i play primarily against beastmen, and the first few matches i had little issue defeating them, however my opponent has discovered how great his characters are for his army. i normally pick light or life lore, but it doesn't seem to help much against a really character heavy list. i was at least considering taking lore of death to break his chain of command (killing his general and/or his BSB) and killing his ferocious close-combat characters and wizards. the primary issue i see with this new tactic is that with such short spell range, and no direct damage spells cast into close combat, i'm not positive how best to get the spells off. any advice on dealing with characters or lore of death would be great!
I was having a similar question just for the sake of trying out Death Lore. My main opponent is Tomb Kings and I was thinking about fielding a few skink priests to shoot off Direct Damage spells to pick of his Lich Priests and Tomb Kings. I havent gotten to try it, but I think my next list will be that against him. As for beastmen they tend to suffer from poor leadership (I played them some in 6th and 7th) so I would take out BSB first and then use sallies to scatter them around the table. It worked wonders against my O&G friend. Also have tried that same tactic by stacking multiple characters in my units and giving them base items and it has worked pretty well to keep combat on my favor. Let me know if you have any comments or input on these and ill post again after I play with the Lore of Death.
Skink priest can only channel magic missile spells from the slann. So if you want to try and pop people with your lore of death then you are going to either get your slann up close and personal or you are going to have to pay the higher spell to increase there range which really isn't that bad as for learning more about the lore of life there is already a great thread about it here I'd go and look at that for better guidance as I have yet to experiment with other lores yet sadly.
