Hi all. I was wondering if there are adequate parts in the Saurus box to make a Scar-Vet JSoD with a great weapon or should i buy the blister. The only problem is I have not seen a metal model with a GW. Thank you
Right. Well the thing about characters, especially the ones prior to the plastic sets, is that the normal WYSIWYG generally does not apply to the variance between a hand weapon and a great weapon on a character. Although it is encouraged to have an appropriate fit, one does not really have to worry too much. Obviously, you dont have to worry about the jaguar totem too much, although the scar veteren model does have a nifty chest guard that depicts a stylized jaguar's face. The concern more is that you can distinguish the hero model easily from the R & F. Yes, you can certainly make a scar veteren out of any Saurus model, but IMO it just isnt quite the same. If you are really gung-ho about the great-weapon depiction, I would suggest simply doublue stacking a club (on either model you choose). Another great method is to use a spear from the Saurus sprue to make it appear longer. Although it might appear at first glance to be a halberd, placing the blocky saurus club bit on top should give you the needed impression.
Thank you. i will find something suitably smashy. Ill probably end up combining the two. Metal body with plastic arms/weapons.
If you don't want to buy the metal model, just use greenstuff to modify your plastic saurus model into a suitably heroic looking scar-vet. Things like extra armour plates and bigger spines and horns would look good. also,a good way to make a plastic R&F model into a hero is to change it's pose. pin on the arms/legs/head/etc. in whatever pose you want and then use greenstuff to fill the gaps. as long as you don't give it too radical a pose the proportions still look good. also, add more detail to the base and make the model stand straighter and taller, that really sets it apart from the other hunched saurus. good luck Apollo3
