Is it just me that believes that the trog would be worth its points if the oracle was a level 1 wizard? Going to suggest this rule to my gaming group, and if they approve then I'll use it and inform you all of the results
The worth of the troglodon increase as long you bring Predatory fighter elite troops. The more Oldbloods and Scarvets you have, the better Roar you'll achieve. I don't have the model, but I will proxy him with my old carno in some friendly battles, My plan is to run him along some CoR with Oldblood inside. Also a cheap slann with WD to clear the path of my dino cavalry. Then a tough stubborn blocks and some skink chaff Just see Troglodon as a big Cold One than a weak Carnosaur. It has valuable uses.
Yeah but it's 30pts shy of an ancient steg. I'd love to use the trog though. Where Is our FAQ games workshop? ):<
I can't believe theres STILL no faq. Its insane. But yeah for Trollodon to be worth it you need an army full of PF, TG SW Krox and slam it all in at once and pop it with the troll in the middle.
yeah a TG horde with the skavenpelt banner would be nearly 50 attacks, so roughly an additional 8 attacks on regular and ~ 16 additional attacks with the trog
If you want to take a neat dino that's cool, otherwise no amount of rolling 5s is going to give you more attacks than 200 points of other troops.
I believe there was a points mess up. This is what I think they should have done leave trog as is but 150 points bastiladon 200 points but with 1+armour and 6 wounds (keep all other rules the same
I have a couple of suggestions for Troglodon use: Painting competition entry Unit Filler Diorama Paperweight (would obviously have to add some weight) Self-comping In all seriousness, I cant find a use for it. If it was cheaper (£-wise), i would probably pick one up to run around just for the pretty model. I probably wouldnt even take it if it was 150 points or could cast spells - its too vulnerable. The roar every turn could have made it interesting. Or 2d6 shots (spits?) with its ranged weapon?
You can also use it to proxy a Carno. For me it would be enough to cut it's point cost by half. For that cost I would most likely have one in most of my lists, but probably no more than one. At least they could have given the skink riding the Trog character status so at least it doesn't suffer from PF drawback
1) Improved Predatory Fighter works every turn. 2) Make the Oracle actually interesting. 3) 5++ Ward save for the whole model. 2) is probably more important for me. This is a guy who has been especially blessed by the Old Ones, and all he has to show for it is a twin tail and the stats of the lowest Skink. What kind of sense does this make? Zero sense. Give him some sort of bound spell or additional ability, decent stats, or make him a true hero choice that can be mounted on the Troglodon. Moving him to a Hero would, of course, mean GW has to think of something interesting to add to Rare, otherwise it would be even more dull. Given all the interesting options that Dark Elves, High Elves, and no Dwarves have, you would have thought it shouldn't be so hard. And yet...
Oh he could have the ability to reroll one casting dice if a spell was chaneled thorough him. (and at least give him MR2 or something)
