Hello all, a quick question, from an almost total newb.
I have just made a very pretty Mazdamundi conversion, and wondered if anyone had any advice as to his usefulness on the table. I usually play 3000 point games with one mate with no restrictions, and as much cheese as you like. He plays WoC, often with Kholek Suneater, Archaon (aaargh!) and a giant or two. THought the ruination of cities might be a bit of a giggle against those sort of things!
We do very much enjoy our games but aren't uber-competative. But I want to win the next one...

I know the feeling about wanting to win against WoC.

I have never used Mazdamundi but he looks pretty good rules wise.
Slann on Stegadon what more could you want (apart from possibly a Slann on a Thunder Lizard!)

Is there any chance the you could post some pics of the conversion?
I'd be eager to see it.

Hope all goes well against that damned Archaon, Bez

Its not a particualry clever conversion: its a steg with lots of extra bits stuck on, but I like it :) (actually I was more pleased with the paint job, but I'll post a pic if you8 REALLY want to see it!).
I guess not many folks have much to say about Mazdamundi then: I'm using him in a 3000pter vs WOC on the 22nd, so I'll post my impressions then...

I think it's a pretty good special character. A Slann on a Stegadon is hard to mess up :p
There's nothing really wrong with Madzamundi, except maybe one thing:
    The Focused Rumination.
That ability is just so incredibly powerfull, every Slann should have it. Since Madzamundi doesn't, it makes him a regular level 4 wizard on a stegadon.
Don't get me wrong, he is notoriously tough, and almost impossible to get rid of. But his spellcasting capabilities is somewhat disapointing compared to a Slann WITH focused rumination.

just played a 2250 game with him,
have to say, his main use didnt occur to me until turn 3, facing down the throat of 2 chaos knight units,
spirit of the forge on one,
then ruination on the other, suddenly they have a 6" charge range, down from 12"
turn four, spirit'd the second unit,
its pushing it, casting value of 25 on 6 dice,
why doesnt he have a usefull disiplin?
    :p
    still, wasnt awfull

6 dice? how did you get to 6 dice, I thought lvl 4 mage that Maz is would only allow a max of 5 power dice to cast...? o_O

    ------------------------------------------

Scrap that, just read my rule book and I see he has no limit to the number of PD he can roll.

Mazda doesn't have a limit to the dice he can use to cast.

    I realize this is a bit late in answer, but being away for over a month in a place without internet access sort of ruins your posting days....at any rate;

Maz is a great character. True they could have done more for him but I've found through my decade of playing that GW often times will limit special characters and over price them. Their main focus for these characters isn't to win battles but to give your army fluff. Now in the case of some of Chaos' characters and a few others floating around they are an army in themselves, but that is the exception.
