8th Ed. Miscasts & Saves

Can anyone tell me what saves are or are not allowed for wounds on a miscast. Is this different for the mage himself? Or the same for him & any other models wounded. (Does this include magic resistance?)

Ward saves can be taken against hits generated by a miscast, but magic registance does not work (per the GW FAQ).

As DT has indicated, ward saves are allowed against hits caused by miscasts. However, the 1-3 result on a dimensional cascade occurs after the S10 hit and does not allow any saves - the wizard is sucked directly into the void!!
