What are peoples thoughts? I'm trying to make a 1500 pt list with as many monstrous things as I can fit. Originally it was a draft with 2 stegadons, a venusaur, Sally, and skinks, but in battle royal (what I'll be playing) if I don't get the first movement, my steggies could get charged, and then they are much worse.

Draft two is seeing Bastilladon spam, and now I'm debating dual carnosaur at 1500?! Not sure if that last one is possible yet, but regardless I'm looking to the community for any experiences/thoughts on the matter.

What is our best monster for a first turn charging scenario in a low points game?

Dual carnosaur is possible in 1500 if you run an oldblood on one as well as a scar vet. obviously this would mean you'd have to leave the slann out of your list.

I think if anything monsters are more effective in smaller games because the amount of cannons you will potentially face is much lower, but thats just my best guess!

That's what I was thinking! After some math, dual Carnos is possible.. but maybe terrible. Can't really add much gear to the Saurus, and we all know that the carnos are going down in combat against a dedicated counter.

I'm not writing off the carnos all-together, might do 1 and as many bastilodons (I can never spell this) as possible.

    Any other thoughts?

my final thought is the carnosaur model is amazing so i take it in nearly all my lists for that sole reason haha.

seriously tho, a monster list needs redirecter and chaff. means lots of skinks in core. honestly i dont really know though. i haven't tried a monster spam list simply because i dont have the models for it.

bastiladons with solar beam cannon are actually quite effective. gives you something to throw dice at if you dont bring any slann/priests.

I'd take just one carnosaur. My big fear with my monsters is getting bogged down by ethereals they can't hurt, so a Scar Vet on Carnosaur with a magic weapon will be able to handle those, as well as a Bastiladons shooting and the Engine of the Gods if you're interested in that. A flank full of monsters with a 6+ Ward save is a pretty terrifying for a lot of players.

I'm running a 1500pt monster list with a oldblood on carno so far he's been fun I haven't come accross many warmachines but one seriously cheesed up vamp lord on zombie dragon, was not a good day.
anyway the list I used had

    Odblood
Carno, loping stride, GW, AoD, Dawnstone

    scar vet
CO, GW, LA, BSB, banner of eternal flame

    Lvl 2 Skink priest
    beasts

    10 Skirmishers
    javs n shields

    25 saurus
    FC, Hand Weapons n shields

    Ancient Steg
    pointy horns

    Solar Bassy

with a couple of points left over I can't remember exactly what but I gave the priest some magic items. although now I'm thinking of swapping the steg for some rippers, camo skinks, and a sally to make it more flexible and make the player worry more about the rippers than carno.
