The poll doesn't mean "worthless", just least used. For me, I have never taken Razordons, ever. Even swarms show up in my lists more often.
I vote for Jungle Swarms.. seeing most lists posted here don't got them.. I see a lot more Razordons than Swarms. I never used Razordons but when i throw an artillery dice.. you know it will be crappy (Thats why my salamanders are most of the time standing not too far away from the target). I used Swarms.. and am sure to plan to much more often. I can't really say they are useless.. they are able to hold something until your Krox's or your CoR arrive and take it over from there. I don't have Razordons.. and probably won't get them until i at least finished what i want to buy for my army.. Maybe i even start on my O&G Army sooner than i get a Razordons..
Even though the poll doesn't mean "worthless", that's exactly what Jungle Swarms are, and that's exactly why nobody takes them anymore.
Jungle swarms are indeed pretty worthless and least used IMO. For me personally a close second would be charmeleon skinks, I cannot justify all the extra points and a special slot just for scouting.
im voting kroxigors i havnt seen anyone on the internet so far using them in there army lists... personally i love them! n im thinking about puttin about 9 in my army
Terradons: I should probably explain this... The poll was for most under-used. Jungle Swarms aren't under-used at all, they're probably over used if anything. My point is that NOBODY should use them, but some do use them.. and so they are over-used in my opinion. Terradons are at the other end of the spectrum... I can't conceive of a reason ANY lizardmen army would go without them, so the fact that I keep seeing lists omitting terradons means they are UNDER used. Chameleon skinks might be a bit under-used as well, but I understand the objections of those who balk at their cost. They are by no means a "must-have" choice, but scouting and being effectively immune to ballistic skill based attacks is nice, along with double-shot poison at long range after moving.
To me a unit of 5 chameleons cost less than a unit of skirmishing skinks but are lot better at what they do. They are almost immune to shooting and do more damage because of their own improved ballistic skill. Yea they cost a special slot, but if you have a slot over and maybe somewhat 60~ points left. These guys are still a great choice. To me Swarms are the most not-used unit in our book. You see alot more Kroxigors than Swarms. Either in unit of skinks or even single unit.
By the same logic that terradons are underused I would say that ranked skinks are underused. Personally, it's rare that I run a list without them, and usually at the end of the day I figure I can always use more. The fact that they don't skirmish is usually cancelled by the fact that I always, always try to place a water area when I'm lizardmen since like half the crap in this army ignores it, and gains cover from it. (especially ranked skinks!)
I'm curious as to why no one wants to put razordons in there army list. Are they bad or are they just very inconvenient to put in an army?
It is just because for the same points, salamanders are better. Auto-panic tests after a single wound is just awesome. Razordons aren't terrible, just outclassed in their role.
Hmm, yeah you may have changed my mind with that. More people seem to realize the fairly obvious merits of terradons than the merits of a 50 point unit of ranked skinks. As far as the water.. I don't know if I've ever played on a table with water terrain... which is a shame really. Lizards ought to get a free 6 inch water placement like the wood elves get a forest. I'm not entirely sure why people hate water features...
I'm starting to think the reason you see so many razordons is that people are reminded of the old salamanders because of the artillery dice. They just aren't the same unit, despite rolling in a similar way. Sometimes I think that some lists with tons of Razordons haven't yet read the part where you have to actually roll to-hit. They get my vote for "most over-used" hands down.
Jungle swarms are probably the least used ever...I don't know of anyone who takes them as for about the same price you could get a load of better stuff
The poll is most under-used as opposed to least used. Least used would be jungle swarms but I wouldn't call them under-used in the slightest due to having far far better alternatives than them. For underused gogo kroxigor units and razordons, with razordons getting my vote
Who voted for Terradons? I like using swarms. In fact, I use two units of one base each in my army. For my specific list they work wonders.
Number of people who shouldn't have Terradons in their list: 0 Number of people who decide not to take them: >1 The difference between 0 and 1 is infinite. An occurance that should be nonexistant is extraordinary when it happens, even if it happens only once. The number of people who don't use Terradons is infinitely greater than the number of people who should not use them (0). Therefore, by mathematical proof we can see that Terradons are the most under-used Lizardmen unit... by a margin no human mind could ever comprehend. What factor can be multiplied with 0 and produce a number greater than 0? Terradons.
"The poll is most under-used as opposed to least used. " Yes, but should we consider the poll as-written (PAW) or the poll as intended (PAI)? I think, PAW would be a more interesting poll (though clearly Terradons win by an infinite margin), while PAI is obviously jungle swarms, since they appear in the fewest lists (though they win by a lesser margin than Terradons win PAW, as mathematically demonstrated above).
Wow... Swarms are indeed bad value for their points...so that is indeed PAI I love my terradons, but I also love a simple scar-vet on CO. He can take care of any light stuff as well, and the heavier as well. (Now don't think i play Hero-Hammer only) But I like running my scar-vets out and just hunt small units, or units that are small after shooting, magic, combat. He can easily take care of them. Most under-used (PAW): Still Terradons, but on the other hand: you do not want too many. You need some stuff to really take care of the heavy stuff, stegs, fat-heroes (the fat toad, or a big old-blood), SCOR or just anything raelly. Darn, i'm starting to write whole stories here ...
