So, looking at how I want my list to improve from 1000 pts to 1500 (and eventually 2250), I came up with the following list, which is my 1000 pts list with some additions. Nothing is set in stone as I have yet to buy some models. An * next to a unit's name means I haven't bought it yet. So here it goes: Characters Kor'Boq Scar-Veteran: 143 pts Light Armour, Shield, Burning Blade of Chotec, Glyph Necklace This guy goes with the block of Saurus Warrios, brings some extra punch. Not gonna put him on a Cold One. Tixi-Uxi Skink Priest: 390 pts Level 2, Ancient Stegagon with Engine of the Gods* (I do not own the Stegadon yet) What, no magic items? Couldn't squeeze the points in so not gonna give him any yet. Core Units: 19 Saurus Warriors w/full command: 258 pts Spears This is the anvil of the army. It will hold it's own against pretty much anything, especially with the Scar-Veteran in there. 10 Skink Skirmishers : 70 pts These little fellows are there to harass the ennemy's flank, screen the main force and such, basically do what Skinks Skirmishers do! 10 Skink Skirmishers : 70 pts * See above unit. Special Units: 15 Saurus Temple Guards w/standard and musician : 277 pts This is one head of the hammer. Some people think they are expensive, I think they are wicked cool looking and with a decent armor save and high strength, they can be trouble for units of cavalry or bigger blocks of weak infantry that forget what TGs can do. I intend to use them to guard a flank and possibly flank charge the enemy. Since I will bring a Slann when the army moves to 2250, I'm keeping these guys at 1500 pts for fluff reasons (will post about it soon). 5 Saurus Cold One Cavalry w/standard and musician: 205 pts The other head of the hammer, these guys have some decent punch and are the 2nd most mobile unit of the army. With their good save, good strength and 15 attacks, they can possibly dish some impressive damage if they don't go stupid. 3 Terradon Riders: 90 pts * These guys seem just to good to pass up. With great special rules, march blocking capabilities, lone character/warmachine hunting as possible roles, having only one unit doesn't seem like much but it's all I could squeeze in. Total points: 1487 5 power dice, 4 dispel dice My original 1500 pts list didn't have the EoTG in it or the Terradons. This list also has more Skink Skirmishers and overall looks more flexible and quite competitive. I've stated it before, I'm keeping the TGs even without the Slann and the Saurus Cold One Cavalry is staying as well. I'll post some background on the army soon.
I'm too new to offer any good advice, but it looks pretty solid to me. I think I would round out the priest with some magic gear even if I had to drop a skink or two.
I would find a way to get some magical items on the priest. Other than that, the list looks quite good. I would not really use the Temple Guard, but that is your decision and in this list it should work.
