Have any of you played battles that exclude the usage of common/army magic items?

Upgrades (such as mutations and disciplines) will be allowed, as well as 'stock' magic items on units, including special characters (with a limit of one SC per army). Stuff like enscorcelled weapons are fine.

Any experience? If so, in what format have you played - escalation, campaign, etc.? Did you reward magic items/tokens for particular results or scenarios?

Excited to try this out - provides a new lens on armies, I think.

Our gaming group did some one off games with no magic at all and only heroes allowed for characters and no SC.

We all really enjoyed doing it, was all about the unit composition, but is only really worked because none of us were playing very magic relient armies. I think it worked really well, but then I've never been big into magic phase, I quite like lists with no wizards
