Okay, in two days I'll be playing against my friend's Orcs and Goblins army. The battle is going to be 1500 points. Aside from this, I've only done a 500 point army. So, I'm a noob. Anyhow, this is the list i've put together, lemme know what should change, or if it's alright.

Saurus Scar-Vet: Light Armor, Shield, Cold One, Piranha Blade, Talisman of Protection (166 points)

Skink Chief: Blowpipe, Light Armor, Shield, Dagger of Sotek (92 points)

Skink Priest: Level 2 Wizard, Staff of the Lost Sun, Plaque of Sotek (140 points)

    (2) Saurus Warriors x22: Spears, Standard Bearer, Champion (288 points each, total of 576 points)

    (3) Skink Skirmishers x12: Blowpipe, Brave (90 points each, total of 270 points)

Cold One Cavalry x5: Spear and Shield, Musician, Standard Bearer, Magic Standard: Jaguar Standard, Champion (250 points)

Lemme know if this is going to be any good or not. I'm very inexperienced.

hmm... I'd like to suggest quite a few changes, but I daresay your also tailoring your army to what models you have available, could you possibly list any other models you have and maybe how you intend the army to work tactically? ie. what role you want each unit to fill.

Then other posters can maybe see where your coming from and help you build on your ideas.

The other models I have are:
    3 Kroxigors
    10 Temple Guard
    Another 11 Cold ones
A Slann Mage-Priest (but I couldn't use him in this size of a battle)
    Some more Saurus Warriors

okay, Im at work so I don't have the book here but basic changes Id look at would be...

Saurus Scar-Vet: Light Armor, Shield, Cold One, Piranha Blade, Talisman of Protection (166 points)
wouldn't recommend Pirahna blade on this guy, unless your facing lots of multi-wound opponents maybe look at Burning Blade of Chotec or getting him 6 S5 attacks with Maiming Shield and Sword of Battle

Skink Chief: Blowpipe, Light Armor, Shield, Dagger of Sotek (92 points)
Id probably drop this guy, don't see him being able to do much to Orcs

Skink Priest: Level 2 Wizard, Staff of the Lost Sun, Plaque of Sotek (140 points)
This guy can be tailored to how you want him, If your opponent has a lot of magic, maybe go for Diadem of Power and Dispel scroll, it'd be a bit hard to go very magic offensive with just 1 mage...

    (2) Saurus Warriors x22: Spears, Standard Bearer, Champion (288 points each, total of 576 points)
Id suggest dropping the champ. he's not terribly worthwhile for his points. maybe look at making the unit x 18 instead of 22 and rank up 6 x 3, or even use them as a scar vet bodyguard

    (3) Skink Skirmishers x12: Blowpipe, Brave (90 points each, total of 270 points)
again, Id drop the champ, aside from that their good, though if you wanted some more points units of 10 work fine
Cold One Cavalry x5: Spear and Shield, Musician, Standard Bearer, Magic Standard: Jaguar Standard, Champion (250 points)
this unit is pretty good as is, again, Id drop the champ. you may consider with the points saved with the above changes, dropping the command and banner entirely and getting 2 units of 5 Cold One Cavalry without any command at all as semi-disposable hammer units

With the remaining points you could probably get yourself another Scar Vet on cold one ( you could use your Cavalry champ model maybe?) so you can have a Scar Vet in each Saurus unit and really put paid to those green skinned ( as opposed to green scaled) brutes. I personally like running 2 Scar Vets, 1 with Maiming shield, sword of battle, cold one and light armour, the other with Scimitar of the Sun resplendant, shield, cold one, light armour. This gives each a 1+ save and 6 strength 5 attacks each.

In the end, just go with what works for you, practice and personal experience is the best way for you to learn what you like/ dislike in your list, and gives you a good indication of what you can add in later on.

Well, I finally gotta play that 1.5k point game tonight (after two weeks of rescheduling). It was a very solid victory, only a few points shy of a massacre. Awesome.
Much of the victory can be credited to the suggested changes of getting two units of Cold Ones, rather than just the one. They did most of the slaughtering, while my Saurus Warriors kept his main force preoccupied.
I should have dropped the Skink Priest, I realize. He really did me no good. My friend had a magic item with his goblin shaman that stole one of my power dice and turned it into a dispel dice for him. The result was not a single spell being cast successfully, on either side. my 3 units of skinks weren't terribly effective, except for in the swift elimination of his Goblin Fanatics.
Ultimately,it was a good game, and I thank those of you who made suggestions.
