Good start! At 2000 points you are over spending on your Slann. Remember that the rules for 8th edition are different, so only 25% can go into lords. So your Slann is capped at 500 pts. Looks like you are working with 2 boxes of Saurus. Not a bad thing, but make sure you run them 5 wide. Otherwise you will give up your rank bonus, making your close combat game weak. You'll have to have one guy hanging out in the back all by himself, but that's ok. If this is a starter army, I suggest you build half of your Saurus with hand weapons and the other half with spears. That way you can experience both options and see which one you like best. EDIT: My bad. I didn't see that this was a double post.
Yeah sorry about that my damn phone timed out, I forgot the whole 25% on lords thing I'll slim my Slann down and use the points to push my Saurus units up to 20 giving them a 5 frontage and enough ranks to soak up any damage, also what're you're thoughts on ancient Stegadons with giant blowpipes? Are they worth a shot?
I have two stegadons, but I haven't used them in this edition yet. According to what everyone else has been saying, and according to what I have seen from my carnosaur's performance, you need to be wary of cannons. Some lucky rolling will take down your beasty in one turn. Giant Blowpipes should be fun though. You can move, pivot, spray, repeat. Look through the tactics forum. I believe there are some excellent threads talking about this subject.
Thanks I'm just drawn to the giant blowpipe thing it sounds so awesome and fun haha! I had a carnosaur back in the day when I first started Lizardmen a few years ago it never seemed to last long when it was stomping around the battle field he was a hot target for enemy wizards and missile fire so I guess Stegadons will be the same, I'll try a Skink screen and a salamander escort when I move the Stegadon around hopefully he'll stay alive long enough to dish out the real damage
