I’m getting ready for a tournament on November 9th. Nothing big is different from standard scenarios but there are lots of little tweaks here and there. End Times rules are disallowed (no necromancy for me ) as is Fozzrik’s Folding Fortress, but pretty much everything else goes. The first game is a 2000 point Battleline, the second game is a 2250 point Battle for the Pass, and the third game is a 2500 point Dawn Attack scenario. Note, that if all three armies are substantially different then I get bonus points. I’m going for variety with gusto. There are also bonus points for having a fully painted army (not quite there), complete WIZIWIG (I can do that for most, but I rely on archer Skinks), and sportsmanship though most points are earned by winning battles. Every table has a neutral monster (or small unit) worth 60 to 250 points that moves randomly and is hostile to both sides. Killing the monster counts as taming it, and those who beat the monster can take it with them as an ally next game or convert it to bonus tournament points. Grabbing certain objectives (terrain features) allows bonus magic items to be claimed. We can also recruit mercenary forces from the ref’s model collection, not sure if that’s an objective that’s seized or comes with the scenario. Objectives have to be claimed with a 100 points of troops so that’s why my Chameleon Skink units are a bit bigger than you usually see. Each table has a terrain theme wasteland, abandoned mines, murky river lands (I want that one, but I doubt I can pick), far north, deep forest, desert, and open plains. They each have different monsters and objectives. As if that is not enough, the third round has an extra surprise. Naturally I tweaked with unit sizes until I hit the points values on the nose each time. I'm open to feedback and suggestions, let me know what you guys think. 2000 point Battle for the Pass, LM without Wizards? Saurus Old Blood, Stegadon Helm of Itza, Potion of Foolhardiness, Cold One, Spear, Light Armor, Shield Saurus Scar Veteran, Armor of Destiny, Great Weapon, Cold One (general) Saurus Scar Veteran, Armor of Fortune, Dragonbane Gem, Iron Curse Icon, BSB Skink Chief, Light Armor, Javelins, Charmed Shield, Egg of Quango. 29 Saurus Warriors with Hand Weapons and Shields, FC 13 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader 13 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader 9 Chameleon Skinks 8 Kroxigor with Ancient Ancient Stegadon with Sharpened Horns Plan is pretty simple: the big guys march forward and beat enemies to a pulp while the Skinks claim objectives. 2250 Battle for the Pass, SKIIIINKKKS!!!! Tehenhauin, the Prophet of Sotek Saurus Scar Veteran, Cold One, Great Weapon, Armor of Destiny, BSB Skink Priest, L2 Beasts, Dispel Scroll Skink Chief, Light Armor, Shield, Egg of Quango Skink Chief, Light Armor, Shield, Iron Curse Icon Skink Chief, Light Armor, Shield Skink Chief, Light Armor, Shield 53 Cohort Skinks with 4 Kroxigor and Full Command 13 Skink Skrimishers with Patrol Leader 13 Chameleon Skinks 4 Kroxigor with Ancient Ancient Stegadon with Unstoppable Stampede and Sharpened Horns. Ancient Stegadon with Unstoppable Stampede and Sharpened Horns. Everything is a M6 or M7 because I’m going to have cross a long table. I figure I will be casting the augmented versions of the Beasts buffs a lot. Plan is to charge across the table with an army center being a Skroxigor death star horde flanked by mighty Stegadons. I figure the table is narrow enough that’s all the frontage I need, but I can hopefully squeeze my Kroxigor in somewhere. After all, I figured with this many Skink characters I needed some PF units to restrain. Dawn Attack, Let Slip the Beasts of War! Slann Mage Priest, BSB, Standard of Discipline, Focus of Mystery (High Magic), Harmonic Convergence, Becalming Cognition, Higher State of Consciousness, Channeling Staff, Egg of Quango Saurus Scar Veteran, Cold One, Armor of Destiny, Great Weapon Skink Priest, L1 Lore of Heavens, Scroll of Shielding 26 Saurus Warriors with hand weapon and shield and FC 20 Cohort Skinks with Musician and Brave 13 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader 13 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader 8 Chameleon Skinks 8 Chameleon Skinks 7 Kroxigor with Ancient Pack of 3 Razordons with 2 snacks Pack of 2 Salamanders Pack of 2 Salamanders Plan is to shoot the crap out of my enemies and use my high mobility to seize objectives. The Slann will float in the back casting Walk Between Worlds and Hand of Glory at every opportunity. I’ll probably swap some spells out for Light or Shadow. The army is mobile enough to be very forgiving for deployment so it should work well with a Dawn Attack scenario.
Looks like a lot of fun, list look good, buti do see a trend of no magic weapons, this would wory me to no end, since I tend to face etherial units every once in a while.
Wise suggestion. Revised lists are as follows. 2000 point Battle for the Pass, LM without Wizards? Saurus Old Blood, Stegadon Helm of Itza, Potion of Foolhardiness, Cold One, Light Armor, Shield Saurus Scar Veteran, Armor of Destiny, Great Weapon, Cold One (general) Saurus Scar Veteran, Armor of Fortune, Dragonbane Gem, Warrior Bane, Iron Curse Icon, BSB Skink Chief, Light Armor, Javelins, Tormentor Sword, Charmed Shield, Egg of Quango. 28 Saurus Warriors with Hand Weapons and Shields, Musician and Standard Bearer 14 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader 14 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader 13 Chameleon Skinks 6 Kroxigor with Ancient 2 Razordon packs 1 Salamander pack with snack 1 Salamander pack with snack I dropped the Ancient Steggy (figuring I should take one or zero), Saurus unit champion, and two Kroxigor. Added some cheap magic weapons, 4 Chamo Skinks, and a bunch of warbeasts (since I’m going to be packing them anyway) 2250 Battle for the Pass, SKIIIINKKKS!!!! Tehenhauin, the Prophet of Sotek Saurus Scar Veteran, Cold One, Great Weapon, Armor of Destiny, BSB Skink Priest, L2 Beasts, Dispel Scroll Skink Chief, Light Armor, Shield, Egg of Quango Skink Chief, Light Armor, Shield, Iron Curse Icon, Tormentor Sword Skink Chief, Light Armor, Enchanted Shield, Biting Blade Skink Chief, Light Armor, Shield, Warrior Bane 47 Cohort Skinks with 4 Kroxigor and Full Command 14 Skink Skrimishers with Patrol Leader 13 Chameleon Skinks 4 Kroxigor with Ancient Ancient Stegadon with Unstoppable Stampede and Sharpened Horns. Ancient Stegadon with Unstoppable Stampede and Sharpened Horns. I dropped six Cohort Skinks to add the Enchanted Shield, Biting Blade, Warrior Bane, Tormentor Sword, and a Skink Skirmisher (the latter to make the list balance) Dawn Attack, Let Slip the Beasts of War! Slann Mage Priest, BSB, Standard of Discipline, Focus of Mystery (High Magic), Harmonic Convergence, Becalming Cognition, Higher State of Consciousness, Channeling Staff, Egg of Quango Saurus Scar Veteran, Cold One, Light Armor, Enchanted Shield, Sword of Might, Opal Amulet Skink Priest, L1 Lore of Heavens, Dispel Scroll 29 Saurus Warriors with hand weapon and shield and FC 20 Cohort Skinks with FC 13 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader 13 Skink Skirmishers with Patrol Leader 13 Chameleon Skinks 7 Kroxigor with Ancient Pack of 3 Razordons with 1 snack Pack of 2 Salamanders Pack of 2 Salamanders I overhauled the Scar Veteran with a Sword of Might and some new less potent but much cheaper defensive gear. I swapped out my Scroll of Shielding for a Dispel Scroll. I added a Skink Standard Bearer, a couple Sauri and dropped a snack and went from 2x8 Chamo Skinks to 1x13 to match my other lists (I am hoping 13 is enough to survive a magic missile).
