Hi Guys, I thought I'd share my current idea on Lizardmen 2500 point list. My last game (blood and glory) ended badly for the old lizzies as there were 4 points in my Temple Guard bunker. I originally thought that I'd be going with a no Temple Guard list, but fell in love with the Chakax model and decided to go in the polar opposite direction! Slann - 495 BSB, FoM, TFR, HSoC, TBC, Lore of Light Chakax - 335 (point cost is pure robbery!) Gor-Rok - 215 30 Saurus Warriors - 390 Full Command 11 Skirmishers - 77 Blowpipes 11 Skirmishers - 88 Javelins 11 Skirmishers - 88 Javelins 32 Temple Guard - 572 Full Command, War Banner Stegadon - 235 -------------------- So I've sunk about half of my points into one unit - it will be the unit to be avoided and deployment will be crucial ! Are there any thoughts on these choices (other than the waste of points that Chakax is now. He'd be worth the cost if he struck first like he used to!) ? Thanks Team!
Needs dedicated war machine hunters. Or else those TG and Chakax will be murdered before reaching combat. Would do well with Cupped Hands on the Slann, Ironcurse icon on the TG champ is dirt cheap and would help as well against war machines. The Sun Standard on the Slann would make coming to shooting units or armies less painful. Might be hard without Salamanders or an EotG. Going to have to figure out ways to handle units you can't catch or that are deep and will hold that block in place for a flank charge.
Hey, thanks for the reply! The. Slann does have cupped hands - should have written that in! And the banner/icon are great. I might switch out steg for some sallies and magic icons. I'll recalculate points and repost. Thanks again.
I agree, I don't usually run a regular steg if I can't run an ancient. I know I like running stegs though. They are fun hammers that, as long as they hit the right units, will run rough shod over the enemy and likely wont give up much combat res. I think if you keep the blocks close together the bubble augments will help you win combats well but if someone like say chaos warriors or empire detachments can hit your flanks fights will still be tough. Those 500 points of characters really gotta earn their points
OK, so I've dropped 2 javelins and 1 Temple Guard and the Stegadon. I've added 2 Salamanders both with extra skink, Sun Standard, Huanchi's Totem (both in TG unit) and 6 chameleons. Thoughts?
I feel like the TG aren't as strong as most other death star units and they'll probably come up short in most games. And i think in a game vs a stronger death star would probably be little fun for you. I could see myself running a list like this for fun and flavor now and again. But i don't think it would be good as my only list or go to list. If that slann were to misscast and explode some TG, also make for a bad game. More so than it normally does.
Thanks for the reply. I tend to agree, they come up short in most cases. As far an exploding Slann goes, in the last few games I've played I've only gotten to activate cupped hands once! It did well though!
If you do face another deathstar, deploy tg last, and away from their deathstar, then just avoid it and hit it with sallimander shots till it is week enough to be killed with a good round of buffs
I think it's good that you are playing what appeals to you rather than what is best. Makes army building and even games more fun. But its more of a caution for you. Nothing was wrong with your first list, as long as you dont get tabled. Having tabled my friends that dont get online and research far too often, i can tell you, those kinds of games arent fun for anyone. You'll just have to make adjustments on the fly to keep a more even match.
OK, new revision; Slann - 535 BSB, Cupped Hands, 4 Disciplines, Sun Standard Chakax - 335 Gor-Rok - 215 30 Saurus Warriors - 390 FC 11 Blowpipes - 77 10 Javelins - 80 10 Javelins - 80 27 Temple Guard - 517 FC, Huanchi's Totem, Potion of Speed, Ironcurse Icon Salamander Hunting Pack - 160 2 Salamanders, 8 Handlers 10 Chameleon Skins - 126 Stalker ---------- Blew away some TGs and the Steg. threw in some Chameleons and Sallies. Thoughts? Thanks guys!
Hey DanBot, Yeah, that was my plan. But that's the chance taken with low number of deployed units. What upsets me most is when Gor-Rok gets killed first round because of lucky rolls! But 'Them's the Breaks'! I usually play against Empire, Chaos or Beastmen and have had more luck against Empire... And zero luck against Chaos. Once I've had a chance to run this in a friendly, I'll re-evaluate Chakax, though I expect that he will come up short.
