    Hey all,

I have been collecting and painting lizardmen for years but never really played with them. As of resent some of my friends started playing and so I went along.
This is my first army list ever so any criticism is greatly appreciated.

    Lord:
    Slann.
Harmonic Convergence, Focus of Mystery (High magic), Reservoir of Eldritch Energy.
    Channeling staff
    Obsidian Amulet

    Heroes:
Skink Priest lvl 1 Lore of Heavens
    Dispel scroll

Skink Priest lvl 2 Lore of Beast
    Cube of Darkness

    Skink Chief
    On Ancient Steg (Sharpened Horns)
    Light armor
    Spear

    Core:
    34x Saurus Warrior, Full command.

10x Skink skirmishers, javelins and shield

10x Skink skirmishers, javelins and shield

10x Skink skirmishers, javelins and shield

    Specials:ยจ
    6x Chameleon Skinks

    6x Chameleon Skinks

    3x Ripperdactyl Riders

    3x Ripperdactyl Riders

    Rares:
    Ancient Stegadon, Sharpened Horns

    2x Salamander Hunting pack

    Total: 2400 points.

I'm not sure if I should keep the stegadon or trade it with some small units for an Ancient as mount for my lvl 1 priest.

    Not bad at all!

Id reconsider higher state of consciousness, unstable makes the slann fragile, almost free kill to wood elves and dwarves, and might be in trouble against demons aswell. In my opinion, its too risky, unstable+ not being able to join units= certain death.
Baby steg: can be very effective if you cast hand of glory on it. Otherwise, s5 impact hits are meh, compared to the ancient.
If you are planning to replace it, Id suggest you adding a skink chief with the steggie, 290 points plus equipment for the skink (spear at least). According to my calculations, removing ethereal thingie (60 pts) + baby steg(215+20)=295, fully covering the skink chief cost, mounted on ancient stegg with sharpened horns, equipped with spear and light armor.

One little thing: you might find it better to have the lvl 1 as heavens, its signature comes to play on 7+, while the beast sig is 10+. You would have to roll with 3 dice to have real chance to succesfully cast it. With the swap youll be able to cast both sig with only 2 dices, youll have to roll 6 on 2 dices for iceshard, and 7 or 8 for wyssains(try aim this at a monster, especially impacting stegs will love this).

Is it safe to not have higher state of consciousness when I run my Slann solo? The only reason I took it was to not get smashed by hard artillery

Put him into a skirmisher unit, and avoid close combat at all cost. Worst case scenario: 6 dice walk between worlds.

I had overlooked the unstable... Now when I looked at it that's definitely something I don't wanna get on my Slann.
But I was wondering if it would make my list even stronger if I did the following changes.

Remove: Higher state, lvl 2 heavens priest, and baby steg.

Add: Tetto'eko. make my beast priest lvl 2 and give him Ironcurse Icon and Dragonbane Gem, Saurus Scar Veteran with BSB, Great Weapon, Light Armor, Shield, Crown of Command, Charmed Shield and Relic sword.
Saurus Scar Veteran goes in my Saurus warrior blok.

This way I enhances my saurus blok and get lvl 2 beast priest to boost and Tetto'eko for Cassandora and other dmg spells.

I don't know if this will be any better than your suggestion?

I would also swap out the cube of darkness for dispel scroll. The biggest problem I see is that I loose the Cube of Darkness but I do enhance my magic phase and my dispel chance? (Never played with spells before so I don't know how dispelling works)

I wont suggest you addig tetto when you already have a loremaster. While it really does increase your spellpool, winds of magic will bring you 7 dices on average plus 1 with the current slann build. Its ~ 4 spells maximum.

If you want a potent saurus unit, have the crown of command on the slann, and add a saurus oldblood with sword of might, armor of destiny, dawnstone, (potion of speed), shield. This guy has 1+ 4+ on FEET! and hits very hard.

Forgot to mension that I will also add eotg on my ancient steg I don't know if it majes much of a difference spell wise since I can reduce spell cost with 1 for an entire lore.
I was wondering if it's generally a bad idea to have 2 loremasters? The reason I would like to have all these casters is just to test them out.
My friends are talking about maby playing endtimes instead of standard. If that happens i guess my amout of casters would be fine as winds of magic is 4d6 right? If we go End Times I will for sure drop Focus and go WD instead!

With end times rules, yeah. Eotg might come in handy sometimes, but not as good if you recieved +1 to spells :) If you want to test how potent they are, I suggest you testing them apart, you build different list for slanns and for tetto.

Thank you for all the help. I'll be trying the edited army list (edited my first post). Next time I think I might try Oldbloods and scar vets. One thing I would also like to test would be having tetto'eko + 2 bastiladons.
Hopefully I find some units I like to be playing with so I end up having a strong and fun to play army :D

I suppose my question would be, are you fighting this army in a tournament or are you going against a specific army?

Edit: Also, what other units/models do you have access to?

It's just against my friends. I have acces to all current models since I've been collecting lizardmen since 1996.
I might be trying tournaments in the future but atm I've only done one fight which was only a 500pts fight.
