With the new rulebook coming quickly, fantasy has almost dried up in my area, but I was able to get a 1000 point game in recently. The only reason to note this is that it was my first massacre ever! My List: Scar-Vet on Cold one, LA, Enchanted shield, Sword of the hornet Skink Priest, Level 2, Diadem Block of 18 Saurus Warriors, Spears and full command 3x 10 man Skink Skirmisher squads 3x Terradons 2x Salamanders with extra handler His List: Slanessh wizard, Level 2, horse 9x Maurader Horsemen 5x Chaos Knight Cav, some upgrades that never came into play Big block of Chaos Warriors on foot Set up: He tried for a refused flank, but with only 3 units, I was able to adapt fairly well. He set up Maurader Horsemen with Sorcerer, Big block of Warriors, Knights. I had Terradons, Skirmishers, and Salamanders to one side of my Saurus block, with a second unit of Skinks on the other, 3rd unit went off on a far distant hill to protect my priest. He won the roll to go first Chaos Turn 1: Everybody marches forward, Knights toward the 2nd Skink squad, Warriors at the Saurus, Mauraders around a forest to get the Terradons and 1st Skinks in charge range, with the Sorceror’s only spell getting dispelled. Lizardmen Turn 1: Terradons fly over the Marauders and drop rocks killing one, both soon to be charges Skink squads move up to dart their foes and the Saurus dance with the Warriors in the 10 inches apart shuffle. Salamanders head into the woods between all his blocks. Magic has my Priest Thunderbolt a Knight to death, and all Skinks are ineffective in the shooting, but the Salamanders fry a few Mauraders, but Slannesh doesn’t let them panic. Chaos Turn 2: Charge! Knights and Marauders smash into the Skinks, but the Warriors are well out of range (ended up being 11 away) and with no spells to cast in combat, the magic phase goes by lightning quick, the Knights easily slaughter and rundown the Skinks they hit, but the Maruaders run into a determined bunch of Skinks that hold even though they lost nearly half their numbers. Lizardmen Turn 2: Terradons hit the rear of the Mauraders, and the Salamanders line up for flank shots on the Warriors. Saurus continue their shuffle, backing up to allow the Priest and Salamanders some time to weaking the Knights/Warriors numbers before we get a Saurus sandwich. Magic has the Priest earn his points well, Thunderbolting 3 more Knights, leaving only the Champ. Salamanders flambee a few Warriors, and in the Maruader/Skink scrum the Terradons kill enough so that the Maruaders can’t kill enough skinks to win combat and break, being run down as they do so. Chaos Turn 3: Lone Chaos Knight charges into the Saurus’s rear (we didn’t know if as a single model he would have the 360 LOS, but I gave it to him since it’s just a fun game) and his Warriors move up on the Saurus for charging next turn. The knight killed a Saurus, and the few attacks back bounced off the Knights armor, but the shear numbers of the Saurus allowed them to win combat, but the Knight held. Lizardmen Turn 3: Terradons fly off to claim table quarters, and the Salamanders readjust themselves to continue burning the flank of the Warriors. The Priest zaps a few Warriors, and the Salamanders boil some in their armor. The combat sees the Knight skewered and the Saurus prepare for the much depleated Warriors. Chaos Turn 4, His Warriors finally get into combat, but my Scar-vet kills two before they can attack. He kills a couple of Saurus, but the return strikes return the favor and the Warriors and run down as the break for the mighty Saurus. In the end, I tabled him and lost a total of 15 Skinks (1.5 units) and 4 Saurus. Talking about it afterwards, we didn’t see what else he could do really, the Skinks had most important things screened, and between the armor negating thunderbolt from the Mage and the Salamanders -3 armor save, he had a serious uphill climb. I’m still pleased with the win and glad everything finally came together for my first big win.
Happy it went well, there weren't much units on his side of the board(3 units), I knew WoC was an elite army, but he just bought too much upgrades.
Sometimes that's all they need. Played one game with WoC once, played a Nurgle army. It had 3 main blocks a character in each, skirmishers and something big (can't remember what, I think it was the Nurgle Lord). Fought Brets and royally slaughtered 'em. After that I decided that WoC was way too cheese ball for me.
