Had the worst piece of luck in fantasy I have ever had yesterday and I thought I would share. I was going second and before I even had a turn my slann was out of the game, after working out the chances of that happening it was laughable: 1. He fired a warp lightning cannon 12 inches away from my slann. With 2 bounces from the cannon and two rolls of the artillery dice there is a 33% chance of rolling a misfire and 38% chance he over shoots. 2. This gives him a success chance of hitting around 29%. 3. My slann then proceeds to fail his look out sir which there is around a 16% chance of failing. 4. He then must roll to wound which is a 84% chance of doing (wounding on a 2) (there is a minor chance he would need a 4+ or even a 5+ around 5%) 5. Then I must fail my 4+ ward save which is 50% chance 6. Then he must roll a 5 or a 6 for the D6 wounds which is 33% chance Adding all this together fairly roughly 0.61% chance of happening poor slann sorry for the mega math hammer!
WOW! but it just kind of adds to how sakven work, they either own you or loose. But i must say what a lucky rat, I rolled a 6 to wound a vamp hero and then they failed there 5 or less str check and died, but this is way more luckier. im amazed somone actually pulled that off espcialy in turn one!
That's pretty typical yeah... "I don't need to hide my slann, I mean; what are the odds of him dying, right?" ... These my friend, are famous last words. Tough luck though The Hunted
Just goes to show... that's why you roll the dice. Sorry for the luck but at least you got a good story out of it! Iggy
Yeah, crap like that can happen. Ask most gamers about their worst hard luck stories and you'll hear some beauties. You could devote whole threads to it. I always remember a game of 40k I played where the sgt from a marines company was left facing a bloodthirster and several lower demons. By luck the chaos kept missing or he kept saving and he held up the HQ for most of the game. Weird stuff like that happens and makes for great stories! Of course, I would have probably restarted the game if that happened to my Slaan...
That is why I have really switched to playing a cheap Slann. Mine runs a little over the base cost and that way, if he dies, I can at least try to pull out a win.
