Ok whats the deal with this idea I dont get it

    I had 22 skinks with 2 Krox's in it.

First round of combat against chaos warriors 11 skinks died. I did maybe 3 wounds back. I lost the combat by 7, broke and fled. He pursued and cut me down

Whats so great about a Skrox unit again?

Sounds like what should be expected. With only 2 krox, you are never going to win a head on combat unless you are fighting skaven or something. Especailly against WoC. Up the unit to 3 kroxigor and get more skinks if you are going to play that way. Otherwise keep them on the flank to support your saurus. Chariots, cavalry, trolls, etc... Those are all good targets for a Skrox unit.

It's pretty fast and can shoot to support for a little while, and is best hitting a flank or denying ranks against other units. WoC kind of walk all over them, but I think you'll try a good support maneuver and see them give some support.

Skrox isnt a straight up combat unit. Point for point Skrox units are terrible fighters, as skinks as worse than goblins in CC for twice the cost while kroxigors are okay at best. Their main purpose isn't to take on other close combat specialists in a head to head battle, that's what saurus are for.

I strongly recommend reading this thread: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/skink-kroxigor-units-whats-the-point.9160/. The, in my opinion, most important point that is made in the thread is how amazing Skrox are at flanking, as they are very fast and do extremely well against other flankers like heavy cav, fast cav, skirmishers and monstrous infantry. For that purpose 2 krox & 16+ skinks is good size, as they are cheap enough to be fairly expendable, while still packing enough punch and keeps steadfast long enough to take on anything an opponent places on his flanks.

    tbh this sounds like trolling.

do you really expect a ~200 point unit of skinks to be able to go toe to toe with chaos warriors?

SKrox arent good, thats the bottom line. they can still be useful, but they arent good. Against really elite units, such as WoC with great weapons they have a use, since they die just as easily as sauruses but cost less points but you cant expect them to win... ever. you can expect them to hold a while, and the kroxigors can actually whittle down small elite units for a while too. your unit has way too few warm (or cold, lol) bodies to last. if you make that 3 kroxigors and 40+ skinks you have a more expensive unit but it could stand against said chaos unit for several turns assuming you have the BSB/general closeby. you will lose tonnes of skinks but your kroxigors can cut down the WoC to a more manageable size.

I usually tell ppl to stay away from SKrox, but i do recognize that they have some uses. front charging a unit of WoC with ~20 skinks is not one of them.
