Slann Mage-Priest + Becalming Cogitation + Harmonic Convergence + Focus Of Mystery + Channelling Staff + Standard of Discipline + Transcendent Healing + Battle Standard = Saurus Scar-Veteran + Piranha Blade + light armour + shield = Skink Priest + Dispel Scroll + Level 2 Wizard + Lore of Beasts = 40 Saurus Warriors + Spawn Leader + Musician + Standard Bearer + spear = 23 Skink Skirmishers + lustrian javelin; shield = 28 Temple Guard + Revered Guardian + Musician + Standard Bearer + Razor Standard = 467 Bastiladon + Solar Engine = 8 Chameleon Skinks = 8 Chameleon Skinks = Ancient Stegadon + Engine Of The Gods + Sharpened Horns = 2,496 points Do NOT post points costs for individual units or upgrades.
I'd skip the level 2 on the skink priest and use the points elswhere. You really want him for the signature spell, and the +1 to cast isn't that big a deal. Slann will eat up enough dice that I don't think you can make full use of the extra spell. It looks like all your skirmishers are in one big unit; definitely split them up. They won't last in combat regardless of unit size, and their best quality is their mobility, which a big unit sacrifices. I'd take a more defensive setup on the scar veteran. The weapon is nice, but the things it'll do the most good against will kill the vet fast. Stegadon helm is nice, or a ward save, and he can do plenty of damage with just a great weapon or halberd, or something cheap if you want magical attacks. Also, remember not to post point values for things in your lists. It's against forum rules, and we all have the book besides and know what things cost. Just the overall point value of the list will do. Other than that, list looks solid!
Yea sorry I copy pasted from quartermaster. I put the skink priest for a scroll caddy and to keep my predatory fighter units from persuing if I don't want them to. I had thought about taking the helm on the scar vet instead of the blade but ogres seem to be the competative flavor of the month and the blade eats them. Also thank you for the input you are totally right I only need the priest to be lvl 1. What do you think about giving the slann magic res 2? It would give my temple guard a 4 ward vs spells due to the engine of the gods as well as make the slann difficult to magic snipe.
I'd say drop the Transcendent Healing and give him the magic resist 2 item for the same cost if you are worried about sniping spells. You can heal the Slaan with Apotheosis, or switch to a Life spell and use the lore attribute if he gets hurt. If it were me, I'd also consider dropping the Razor standard, and with that and the points saved from the skink priest, investing in a Salamander. They are still good, and with High Elves showing up a lot more now they pull their weight in many games. Walk Between Worlds sets him up for a killer shot against a big infantry block. That's all I can think of for the moment.
I would consider taking Soul of Stone. If you ever rolled a 7 on the miscast table while having your Slann surrounded by TG you know why. The points for Transcendent healing are kinda wasted. It's unreliable and unflexible. Just get a life spell and you have plenty of healing power with the lore attribute and Apostheosis. Are the 23 Skirmishers one unit? That seems a bit out of place, because it hampers there ability to dance around the opponent and makes it quite easy for them to get picked off by 1+ (Monstrous-) Cavalry and the like. If you split them you also get more deployment points and cheaper redirectors. The points for the additioinal caster level on the Skink Priest could be better spend elsewhere IMO. You will probably want to go for Wildform 90% of the time anyway and between the Slann and the Bastiladon there shouldn't be many dice left. All in all it doesn't look that different from the list I posted a few days ago. I just dropped the Bastiladon this time after I lost it 2 times in a row to the Lore of Metal. Maybe you want to look it over as well. http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/2500-p-comped.12662/
