Keep in mind that I have never written a list for Lizards ever in my life so please feel free to rip this list to shreds. ***EDIT*** Scar Vet – 140 Enchanted Shield, Light Armor, Piranha Blade Skink Priest – 140 Lvl 2, Plaque of Tepok, Rod of the Storm CORE 14 Saurus Warriors – 186 Musician, Standard Bearer, Spears 15 Saurus Warriors – 198 Musician, Standard Bearer, Spears 10 Skink Skirmishers – 70 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 SPECIAL 5 Cold Ones -195 Standard Bearer TOTAL - 999 I decided that i am going to try the piranha blade since I will be playing against Beastmen and they have either low or no armor save. Also, since I play Bretonnians, this is my chance to use offensive magic Thats why i have the priest with a lot of spells if you have any suggestions im open to them. I plan to go sort of magic heavy with enough punch in the infantry to get the job done.
I would definately drop the Chief and go with a scar vet w/ either Scimitar of Sun resplendant (for insane number of attacks) or with a great weapon and venom of firefly frog (mundain wpns are magical w/ poison) or you could go with sword of the hornet (ASF) and an enchanted shield for better armour. Drop the champion in one of your Saurus, unless you put a hero/lord in the unit champs aren't worth their points value. I might also drop one Saurus from one of your units so that you have three even ranks (unless symetry doesn't matter to you). Nothing to complain about here! If you should happen to have extra points (perhaps you might think to drop a few skinks down to just ten (though I am not nessisarily suggesting you do...it's just a place you could take points from) I recommend giving your Cold Ones a banner and musician. Also, something else to consider, putting your priest on an EotG is terrifying at the 1K point level. But it will suck up a lot of points from your otherwise decently sized list.
I'd drop the full command from the Saurus blocks and only take a Standard Bearer and Musician. I'd also drop the Skink Chief. Now you can afford 18 Saurus in each block running them in 6 files and 3 ranks. That's going to give you a start of 24 attacks in Close Combat which will usually decimate most units you should be running into at the 1000 points level of the game. At this points level I find that the game is more about the number of models on the table rather than the quality of units and tactics. If you can bring more combatants to bear, you'll be winning Static Combat Resolution and seeing a lot of your enemies backs as they run away. With whatever points you had left, more skink skirmishers. Raining down poisoned death upon your foe is great fun, and those auto-wounds on 6s are hilarious against high toughness, low armor targets like giants. I love the look on an opponent's face when I tell them a 70 point unit of skinks dropped their giant in one turn.
power stone on your priest is quite useless. you will have 2 spells to cast with 4 dice. even IF you get the most expensive spells commet + uranon's thunderbolt/forked lightning you would only get them dispelled the 1 time you use the stone. if you want more magic swich the rod of storms for the plaque of tepok or swich the stone for a dispell scroll for a bit of magic defese. or just drop the item completely for a few extra points. the others covered the rest, alltough i'd suggest the Scar Vet, CO, LA, ES, BBoC for the general, worked out fine for me, it has great survivability and it can be nasty against even the most armored opponenets.
Okay, so I made some changed to the list Priest is just an experiment, for shits and giggles if you don't mind me saying.
alltough i generally play the scar vet on the cold one its not a necessity. also you have 2 arcane items on your priest wich is rather ilegal, i suggest siwching the rod of storm for a dispell scroll to make your list legal and you're good to go also remember that the BBoC cancelles regen aswell, i don't know how many regenerating things there are in the new beasts book but its a thing worth considering
Thanks Bibamus! I also play against VCs so canceling regen comes in handy against that damned corpse cart
