Hey there. well i'm starting my very first WHFB army and could do with some pointers, especially on tactics and deployment. I've been studying the codex for a while now and i've come up with this SLANN BSB focus of mystery dispell scroll The focused Rumination Cupped Hands of the Old Ones - 395 Skink Priest Engine of the Gods Level 2 Wizard Diadem of Power - 415 SAURUS WARRIOR x20 Spears Full Command - 270 SAURUS WARRIOR x20 Spears Full Command - 270 Temple Guard x16 Sun Standard Of Chotec Full Command - 331 Kroxigor x3 Skink Skirmishers x22 - 154 TOTAL = 2000
Divide your skirmishers in two units. That been said, this is a very good first list! Well done! Think this will do well on the battlefield and should be relatively easy to play. just be aware that you are very vulnerable to flank attacks. Protect your flanks and you should be ok
Thanks! i was already going to do that, i assume you mean 2 groups of 11 yes?? and what exactly would you put on the flanks??
If you want something to protect your flanks, I would have reduced both saurus units to 15, removed 2 skinks and bought 2 razordons for the points. They are made for such a task. If you don't want to reduce your saurus units, you will have to try and use your skink units as diverters, but they probably won't hold against anything else than fast cavalry and maybe flyers.
One possible modification to give yourself some addition options would be to drop the Kroxigors in favor of 2 Salamanders or 2 Razordons. Sallies would be great for hitting those heavily armored targets and theoretically Razordons would be great for covering your flanks. Other than that proposal I think it looks great.
Wow thanks guys. Much appreciated replies. I've calculated and i can make up the points with the 2 sallies/razodons plus 2 extra handlers (left over from the box of 24 skinks!!) em which one would you guys reccomend: razodons or sallies??
. . . . . but that -3 to armour and ignore regeneration does look quite tempting . . . . though i suppose it can be inaccurate at close range . . . . i'm still not sure
Personally I prefer the sallies for the -3 save mod, the flaming attacks and the panic checks from one casualty. Flaming nixes anything that regens, the save mod is enough to even give cavalry pause, and the panic checks are money against low leadership units (and the occasional lucky panic on a high leadership unit). I will admit I have not yet tried Razordons on the table, but I remain underwhelmed by them on paper. If they had a longer range I would be interested in them.
yeah ok then i think i'll go with 2 sallies, thanks can i put one on each side or do they have to tay with each other like a unit cohersion kinda thing??
If you have two rare slots available, then you can have two units of salamanders. Each unit can be 1-3 salamanders strong.
