i was wondering if i should buy a Stegadon, Bastiladon, or a Terradon/Ripperdactyl Riders i already have: 2 skink priest 32 saurus warriors 24 skinks
That depends on what you want to do with your list? All of your choices tend to have supporting roles, just very different ones at that.
Pick whichever one you're most excited about painting. At this early stage in your army, it doesn't really matter that much. Eventually you will likely buy all of those units
If you're looking for the most competitive list then the answer to that question will always be 'stegadon'. On the other hand if you are really stoked about painting up a Bastiladon or unit of ripperdactyls they are good too. Honestly I would say ancient steg, but looking at that list you might want to consider a Saurus scar vet too.

A stegadon usually does most damage with his impact hits anyway. Also, the ancient has an extra armour save i believe.
im looking for more impact because it wont be hanging back for 2 long it will be a in your face stegadon
The best way to run a Stegadon is an Ancient with the sharpened horns upgrade. It has two main advantages over the normal steg, +1 strength and one better on its Armour save. Both of these are significant stats because strength increases the damage done by your impact hits (S6 wounds T4 on a 2+, which is pretty key), and AS prevents you taking damage back. The additional attack for the normal steg is fairly inconsequential really. IMHO the great bow is a better howdah weapon than the blowpipes because a bolt thrower useful tool that we otherwise lack, whereas low strength poison shooting is ten a penny in our list, but to be perfectly honest if you fire your howdah weapons more than once per game you're using your steg wrong. In reality the only time you would bring a regular steg is if your rare allowance was already full.
I think you should buy what you feel like, but Ancient Stegs are an extremely solid choice against most armies, so of the ones you list I think that would be the first one to get. Besides.. not having a Stegadon would be called out as heresy by a lot of Lizardmen players (...I just got my third of eBay ) Players tend to grow stronger affection for their stegs than most of their other units...I for one named mine Joe, Mitch and Rudy. ...by Stegs .... or Salamanders, which if you want to go competitive picking up two-three of these guys is recommended, but then again: play what you like. There really aren't any completely useless unit in our army, so if you are afraid of a bad pick then its really just the difficulty of use you should worry about (which takes practice)
I just recently started forming my Lizardmen army when the new book dropped so I'm in a similar situation as the original poster. I feel like I have a majority of the necessities. I currently own: 60 Saurus Warrior (Hand Weapon/Shield) 78 Skinks (Some will be converted to Chameleons) 2 Salamanders 27 Temple Guard 1 Oldblood/Scar-Vet on foot (Cowboy) 1 Slann 3 Kroxigor 2 Skink Priests New Gor-Rok model 9 Cold One Cavalry 1 Stegadon (the old metal model) After getting some extra money for Christmas and my birthday last month, I'm looking to expand my Lizardmen forces to include more supporting roles. But which Lizardmen models are best in supporting roles? Nearly every Warhammer army is represented at my local game store, but right now a lot of Dwarf and Warriors of Chaos games are being played so I'm wanting support against war machines and WoC. I'm considering a Bastiladon, an Ancient Stegadon, possibly a box (or two?) or Terradons/Rippers (Which of the two are better now?) All of these models seem viable at filling the support role so I'm not sure where my money would be best spent. I'm not looking for the absolute, most-competitive build or anything like that. I just don't want to spend money and time on a unit that will always die and not fulfill its intended purpose in the game.
