Hey. I'm going to play a small tourny-like event. We don't have any extra rules, so just the standard 8th ed tules. The problem is, that there are a bunch of power gamers in the club, and I haven't played a power list before, so I would like to suprise them with a super army-list, the most evil list that can be made with Lizardsmen. To do this, i need some help, as I havn't played a lot in the new edition. We are going to play 1.500 pts, and I would like a lot of help to make this list, basiclly from the ground. I don't even know whihc hero/lord to get, should i put a slann in the list?? Any help would be nice.
From my limited experience I want to run a Slann any time I can. I've destroyed guys a couple times solely based on dominating with the mega life-buffed TG/Slann Unit. Heres the base of what I would run. Slann General, Rumination, Mystery (Life), Cupped Hands, Ironcurse Icon. 14 x Temple Guard FC, Razor Standard 23 x Saurus Warriors HW+S, FC 12 x Skink Skirmishers BP 2x6 Chameleon Skinks 2x1 Salamanders Extra Handler Scar Veteran Trick him out as you please. Before adding anything else to that list its got 65 points of wiggle room, you can think about dropping 2 skirmishers and adding another rank of Saurus, or you could drop the Scar Vet and add another unit of skirmishers and some Saurus, or you could just use the rest of the points on a Scar-Vet. But thats the basis of what I would run at 1500
I suggest: Slann with Life, Mystery, Rumination, BSB, Cupped Hands 14 TG 20 Saurus with HW and shield 2x10 skink skirmishers 1 Salamander with extra handler. This leaves you with 376 pts to spend. - I like skink skirmishers and I would love to field 4 units of 10. They are cheap and always kill their points worth at the end of the game and they do tend to surprise me. - An ancient stegadon is a force to be reckoned with. Mine never got a charge but still ended up killing 3 fiend of slaanesh and 18 daemonettes. - 30 strong units of Saurus warriors deployed 5 wide = you'll be staying in combat for long, so adding 10 saurus is not only cheap but also very good. - Having a Skink priest is always handy. Even if he doesnt cast much spells, he can still channel, be used as a vassal or pick up the power die if something happens to the slann. - Skrox unit are great and 16 skink/2 krox come in under 200 pts. - Ultimate cheese: get max salamanders, and boost you TG unit to 20. Watch your opponent take multiple panic tests and try to kill you lifestar unit. Just beware of gunlines!
the slann you are suggesting is too many points for a 1500 pont game i believe, i am due to start a campaing myself at 1500 points so this is the list i am going with, hope this helps and also any c&c on my army is most welcome. Slann (life or light) still deciding, BSB, rumination, mastery 16 Temple guard - champion (ironcurse icon) 20 Saurus - Hw shields. command, champion 20 Saurus - Hw shields, command, champion 22 Skinks cohorts - 2 Kroxigor, std, mus 5 Chameleons Salamander & extra handler This comes in at 1498, only thing i would like to have is the command on my TG but cant get the points from anywhere else, and im stubborn anyway so not too worried about losing combat with them. I will either take life for the miscast protection and buff spells or light for the WS10 I10 and ASF spells on my large blocks. For me the key at this point bracket is getting more units so i am as character light as can be while taking a slann.
True the Slann I suggested costs 26% of the army so is illegal. If you plan on using Lore of Life, drop the Cupped Hands and you'll be fine. To Xisor: I suggest you find a way to fit in some skink skirmishers. Those guys are so cheap and effective that it's a crime not to include any. IMHO, these guys are a must have, just like some people consider sallies essential.
