Okay my problem is the high elf unit of 30 t4 s4 great weapon wielding maniacs who strike at normal initiative. They took down 20 saurus and a cold one in one turn of combat what can kill those beasts. Second problem is that between me and my doubles partner we rolled 6 1's in a row then out of 11 shots from my skinks 4 were 1's and to top it all off my last remaining cold one the champion got slapped by an elf archer and failed an unmodified 2+ save whyyyyyyy me why...
There's nothing outside of chariots in the HE book that have T4, not even their special characters. I assume you're talking about Sword Masters or White Lions... SM's have S3 T3 2 attacks, WL's have S4 T3 1 attack. Both die in droves to salamanders-- wound on 4+, no saves for SM, 6+ for WL. SM's are also a great target for blowpipes, wound on 4+ (6 is poison) with a 5+ save. Once you soften them up a bit they go down fairly easy.
all of the elite troops being discussed here all also have strength 3 except white lions with strength 4. lore of life is the perfect thing to take against the HE elite troops. Every Dwellers Below spell that lands is killing half of each of their elite units. That should take a pretty sizable chunk out of the troops he's hinging on. Also, if there are any large blocks of spearmen or sea guard, give them a taste of dweller's below and half of them will vanish as well.
It was the white lions and 30 of them. No slann as i only had 1000 points as it was 2k doubles vs a gt list Skink priest had trouble casting because of a weird little elf with +5 to his casting value and level 4
General Cross posted a thread about his recent luck with skinks in hordes of 50. Perhaps something like this would be useful in your situation as you would be getting an absurd amount of attacks which would only be diminished after he'd killed 20 skinks (10 wide, 5 deep). Plus, the WL only have one attack, limiting each WL to kill a single skink per turn of combat. Skinks are only 5 points a piece and they have poisoned attacks. The only thing you've really got to worry about is the leadership of the skinks, but i think skinks seem like a decent foil. I mean, sure, each WL is definitely killing 1 skink, but the quantity of poisoned attacks the skinks are dishing out seems to put you at the advantage. This way you're taking the usefulness of WL away. They're good at killing other elite infantry, not at fighting a giant horde (since they only have 1 attack). Plus, if you get charged you're gonna get a stand and shoot reaction which will help even more. Hopefully this is more helpful than my magic advice (since you aren't fielding a slaan).
Jungle poison only works on javelins and blowpipes. No poison in CC (unless it is from an item, spell, or terrain effect).
