Now that I've been able to play about 25ish games with my lizards I think I've come up with a decent all around list I like you all to cretique. Lizardmen 2500 Slann Mage-Priest BSB (standard of discipline) Cupped Hands of the Old Ones Focus of Mystery The Becalming Cogitation The Focused Rumination Obviously Choice, grants ld10 and stubborn to my TG, allows me to dominate the magic phase with light for buffs along with a magic defense from becalming cogitation. Skink Priest lv 1 Cube of Darkness Taken simply for cube and possible channels as well as iceshard if i need it. Skink Chief on Terradon Spear, Light Armour, and Shield Dragonhelm Venom of the Firefly Frog One of my new favorite hero options. He is cheap enough that it doesnt matter if he dies and semi surviviable with a 3+ save. 3 str 5 magicial attacks and 1 st 4 and stomp he is able to take out etheral units(solo spirt host/hexwraiths in flanks), warmachines, suicide wizards(and possibly get away if they dont kill him) rear charge with saurus or temple guard in the frount and most importantly take out/tie up flamers since he has a 2+ward vs fire, as i have 2-3 demon players at my local store. 30 Saurus Warriors Musician Mus/Standard Bread and butter unit, 30 strong means they are sticking around for a while and with buffs dealing decent damage back. point for point they are a solid choice. 30 Skinks Standard 3 Kroxigor Faster more situational unit that has also grown on me, with ws10 and phas they decently survivable and with 3 kroxigors they deal decent damage. Movement 6 is there biggest assest as i can make they are positioned where i need them. if the skinks are 6x5 with the 3 krox im 7 ranks deeps and able to keep steadfast for at least 2 rounds of combat, enough to either get some support over or at least hold a deathstar for a few turns. On a side note i have a rules question about them, i assumed i dont get stomps, but are the krox targetable? I want to say no, but i just want a official answer 26 Temple Guard Musician/Standard Bearer Banner of Eternal Flame We all know what these are here for 4x8 Chameleon Skinks Might be my favorite unit, able to march and still double tap for poison, they dish out tons of damage. Fast enough to avoid getting into combat, and with skirmish and the chameleon rule somewhat safe from BS relied shooting. 2x2 Salamander Hunting Pack 8 Skink Handlers Don't need explaining lol Composition Report: Points of Lords: 460 (0 - 625) Points of Heroes: 218 (0 - 625) Points of Core: 671 (625 - Unlimited) Points of Special: 831 (0 - 1250) Points of Rare: 320 (0 - 625) Total Roster Cost: 2500 Thanks for viewing and any/all advice or imput is appreciated
You have too many units of chameleons (max 3 special at 2500 points) I personally love the engine of the gods...versatile, dangerous, and pretty darn good at point denial. At the least a stegadon could be nice at 2500. You don't really have much of a hammer beyond the kroxigors in the Skrox unit, and they are a bit unwieldy! All in all it does look like a solid list. Just my $0.02.
I like the list, it is a nice all around list. I would add a scar-vet into the list to cushion the slann against challenges (I play a Brett player who forces challenge acceptance). Anyway, that is all that I would change. To answer your question, when the skrox unit is shot at, you randomize the hits (1-4 a skink and 5-6 a krox). In close combat, unless they are exposed (in base to base with a kroxigor), your enemy cannot target them. On that same note, you do not get to stomp for the same reason.
Imguessing this is in an FAQ asit overrules the wording in the army book stating that the krox can attack overteh front rank, but can also be attacked back
