OK so its a day of newness for me.

Not only is this my first day on the forum, but its the start of my first new army in a long long time.

I first collected Lizardmen in the 4th (5th maybe?) edition of Warhammer, when they came in the boxed came alongside Bretonnians. Since then I have had two other Lizardmen armies, all of which have been thrown away due to their appalling quality and tatty state.

Now I am ready to start a brand new army and have gradually ruled out all the other races in Warhammer to come back to Lizardmen again. Unfortunately (in some ways) my wife is pregnant at the moment meaning my painting room is being converted into a nursery and my money is being spent on dummies.

So here's my plan, start a new Lizardmen army, restricting myself to one purchase per month (but only if last month's purchase has been completed). To make things fill up the month and provide a target I want to try and give the army a really strong theme and convert as many miniatures as possible.

My first model & conversion is my Saurus Scar Veteran and its a recreation of my old hero. Gaming wise he is equipped with a halberd and shield as well as light armour. The miniature is the standard Saurus hero model with a salamander head swap (using the head that has its mouth open). The weapon is a fairly simple swap to use one of the Tomb Kings Ushabti glaives (the one that looks most like a halberd).

Any one got any ideas of a theme or thoughts on some more eye-catching conversions?

How about a theme based on one of the old sacred host spawinings..?
