The new book has been out for about six weeks now, and I thought I would ask everyone how they have been finding the new book so far. I'm curious to see if people are generally winning or losing games. I realize this isn't a scientific poll, but I thought it would be good to discuss the relative results so far. Please be honest. It is just as valuable to hear from people who have had success thus far as it is from those who have not. Let us know what has been working for you (units or strategy), and what has not. Hopefully, we can build a picture of how to create a competitive list based on each others successes and failures.
I feel very hopeless vs. the top armies, and feel less strong than the mid-tier armies. But ive been rolling a bit unlucky and its a small sample size.. I won all games early, now I am generally losing; pre-patch I won a lot more..
Played two games, one uncomped and one ETC (so almost uncomped). Won the first against HE and the second against Daemons. While the HE army was hardly a tournament list, the ETC Daemons had a lot of nasty stuff but I managed to kill 5+1 Beasts of Nurgle with a Saurus unit (magic helped here) and GUO (Burning Gaze+poison) and then stay ahead despite failing to kill that annoying Khannon all game. I don't have any of the new toys painted up yet and still run a lot of Saurus infantry. Two solid units of 24-30 plus Temple Guard. Worked really well, especially against the Daemons when I used Wandering Deliberations. I can't praise that discipline enough. All those useful, easy to cast spells as well as a couple of potentially devastating boosted versions. Several have huge range as well, which is really helpful for the slow floating toad. Skink Skirmishers are still great, but way more fragile. Same goes for Chameleons. A cheap magic missile and chances are they'll run. Obviously the Slann has been nerfed but it's still up there with the best Wizards in the game, as it should be.
