Hello everyone, I'm Awoken, late teenager from Norway.

I bought my first Lizzie and the Lizards army book two days ago.
I am far from new to Warhammer, allthough I've never been really serious about it. I've never really played a game, just half-painted some models and stashed them away. But a new spark has lit up in my head, and I was on a trip and decided to drop by the GW-store.
I asked for advice there on an army that functions well with their special characters / racial leaders. They unloaded a ton of info, but I decided to try Lizardmen.

So, I'm going to build up a 2000+ points list based on Kroq-Gar and his Cold One Cavalry. Does this sound like a good idea to you all? Like, will I be able to beat my opponents at all, or doesn't Lizardmen go that well with cavalry-heavy lists?

Also, I am new to painting scales! I've decided on blue sauruses and skinks, but I also think green and purple would look good on Lizards, where can I put that to use? i'm thinking Champions and Heroes? And possibly Charmeleon Skinks, which I just want to use because they seem like a good asset to a fast moving army.

    Greetings, welcome to the board!

You might have a little trouble fitting charmeleon skinks into a list depending on how many cold ones you want, because they are both fighting for valuable special slots. That type of list has been done before, and can work well, but its certainly not very common. I think because the CO models are so ugly. You might also get sick of taking a special character every battle, they tend to be unbalanced.

As for paint schemes, buy some skinks and use them as test models to try out several different techniques until you get one you like! You have 24 of them in a box to mess around with.
