So there’s no tournament coming up but I got a second to last place finish last time, so I want to work on my next tournament list in advance.

I suffered repeatedly from having more units than I had space to get them into combat. This was a problem in my last double’s tournament as well (though it did not actually cost me games). I think fewer larger units will serve me better in the future.

Four of the six tournament games I played gave bonus points for killing specific characters, I’m taking Lore of Death for my tournament Slann. It’s also nice that the new FAQ boosted Death Spirit Leech so a Slann with his Ld boosted by The Standard of Discipline uses Ld10 for the d6 roll.

I suffered from not taking a fighty character in my last tournament. Sometimes directly like when I needed the magical attacks versus the Vampire Counts and indirectly in scenarios where we got to give our characters fighting bonuses (and they were somewhat wasted on my Slann) so I’m taking an Oldblood.

I believe a block of 20 Skinks has helped me out a lot. Whenever they can get in a building they manage to earn their points. Salamanders continue to do well, so I’m not dropping them from my list. I also believe a Forbidden Rod caddying Skink Priest will continue being a solid choice. Chamo Skinks do well for me most of the time and Terradons are versatile (I need more practiced with Terradons).

Even with dropping a Saurus block I needed to make some more cutbacks. I dropped my Skink Priest Cube of Darkness Caddy. Hopefully with a mighty Death Slann I can kill enemy wizards before they become a huge problem I’m kind of used to having three groups of war machine hunters but against most opponents three is overkill. I went from two units of Chamo Skinks to one.

I’ll try to play this in some test games but gaming is likely to be sparse till 2013.

Don't get me wrong here, I love Kroxigor. BUT, for their points you could get a good sized unit of Skrox. That's a better trade-off for a competitive environment, IMO. They look pretty mean on the field though, so maybe there is a psychological advantage to taking them.

I think you'll be fine with one unit of Chamo's. I'd also lean towards a Scar-Vet just to save some points. But then again, your lists are usually pretty unconventional. :smug:

    That's all I got!

I got a more vanilla version on standby but I want to try the unconventional list. A major advantage of dropping the Kroxigor for Skrox is that I could cut down the Saurus block and still make my Core. The freed up points have gone into more Temple Guard. The vanilla version of the list is as follows:

Slann Mage Priest, BSB, Standard of Discipline, Cupped Hands, Extra Power Die, Lore Mastery, Bane Head

Scar Veteran, Armor of Fortune, Venom of the Firefly Frog, Great Weapon
    Skink Priest, Forbidden Rod

    31 Saurus Warriors FC
    40 Skinks, 4 Kroxigor, FC
    20 Skinks, FC

32 Temple Guard, FC, Ironcurse Icon, Banner of Eternal Flame
    7 Chamo Skinks with Brave
    3 Terradons
