This is exciting and a disturbing sight. It would seem the humans are advancing. No matter, the Old Ones have spoken and we shall protect our lands.
Some pretty impressive models in there I have to admit! And I'm not an empire fan, my excitement for this release was it means its closer to the next army which is WoC.
Ooooo, note who wrote this: The only "Rob" I know of on the GW staff that writes books is Robin Cruddace.... The writer of: The new Tomb Kings codex The current Imperial Guard codex The current Tyranid codex And co-wrote the Sister of Battle White Dwarf codex, which he did with Matthew Ward. To the Empire players out there.... You have my undying sympathy.
Does he suck? I thought the new TK book was fairly good. I spent the last two weeks getting my a$$ handed to me by TK in 5 out of 6 games.
Yes, in fact hes the only person I've heard of that might be hated more than Matt Ward. The Tomb Kings are playable right now, but very difficult to do effectively, Imperial Guard primarily use Las-Rifles/Las-Pistols, and there's a reason that they call them Flashlights, From what I've heard, Tyranids just suck right now, and Sisters of Battle? They are a one trick pony, just bring lots of Exorcist tanks. Also, is it just me or does GW have this new phrase on their wall? "Oh, every army needs an Engine of the Gods!"
Those are all well written books, except for the Sisters of Battle WD list, which is neither well written or even a book. Many people view Tomb Kings as the weakest of the 8th edition army books, true, but if they are, they are the weakest out of four very evenly matched books. The Imperial Guard codex is very strong, at the time it was released it was probably the strongest in 40k. The orders even make it possible to kill stuff with those flashlights, I've brought down Daemon Princes with those.
I think the point, more or less is, that they make good books, rule wise, but break so much fluff and stuff.
aparantly the Empire is getting access to the ''cold blooded' rule via characters. this sound extremely wrong to me
Hello, It's not Cold Blooded, but 3d6 for break tests, not panic tests. Form the roumors that are in the web, the new empire will be like It should be from the begining, hordes of Rank and File infanry supported by Handgunners and magic. Not a War alater 2 Stanks and a gunline... P.s I have over 5000 points of Tyranids, and the new Codex feels like It's been written in the wrong edition, but when all the Tyranid players heard that Rob will be wrighting it, and knowing what he's done to the IG all cheared, untill...
I also heard that the Stank will be dropping to T6. I'm not sure if that is pure rumor or not, but it will definately make it a little easier to deal with.
According to the GW website it is indeed T6 now. Also 10 wounds. I've never fought one before, so I don't know what their old stat line was. I'm assuming GW has updated their website with all the new Empire stuff already, seeing how the new griffons and engines are on there. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440093a&prodId=prod2120007
The GW website is not a good source. When 8th edition came about, those were the stats it had then. The first FAQ changed the toughness to 10. I am not sure where the rumor originated, but in my opinion they would not FAQ it and then change it in the book. Although, I do think it is a little overpowered with that toughness.
