Hello, I'm about to start buying/painting/playing Lizardmen and I really don't know what to do atm. I'm about to buy a Setegadon for HQ unit and then later on i'm going to buy a Battalion. So that gives me.
    20 saurs warriors
    12 skinks
    10 temple guard
    8 saurus calvary
stegadon (Probably going to go with engine of the gods)
    skink crew

I want to use them all and I havn't even calculated how many points that is but I was hoping I could get some feeback as to upgrades and strategy. The guys I'm going to be playing against don't really have alot of army either so I need to keep it small.

    Thanks.

A stegadon with the engine is not that good anymore. I would recommend making a regular Steg (or a regular ancient Steg) and using the leftover priest as a non-mounted priest. You should then convert the Stegadon Chief as a regular Chief. I would also recommend playing a few games with this small, well rounded army and see which aspect of the game you like, Lizardmen can do most anything well, so don't be afraid of focusing on one thing [like shooting or magic]. Most of all, find the play style that suits you and run with it.

I would recommend converting the stegadon so that you could take it as any of the three types (EOTG, skink chief with warspear, or ancient stegadon-bow or blowpipe). I believe you could magnetize the pieces so that they could be switched out. That way, you will not limit yourself on what you have to have (and you could test out each one to see which one worked the best for your play style).

As far as the EOTG being no good, I don't know about that. It does make a convient target (the trick is to make several targets to choose from). The ward that you gain against shooting is by itself very powerful. If you have a Lore of Life slann, there is no reason you wouldn't be able to regrow it also. Just saying, try it out before you make the assumption that it is no good. What may not work for one guy could be just what you need to win.
