At long last, Chapterhouse Studios has these models for sale! Whoopee! Take a look: http://chapterhousestudios.com/index.php?route=news/article&catid=1&news_id=17 Please pass the word on to other Warhammer lists you may be on, thanks!
If it's not too much to ask, would any of you be kind enough to respond to some of these haters ----> http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=108192 and here http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?357645-Kroxigor-proxy-miniatures ??? I have to wonder whether these posters are actually on the GW payroll...
I would If I could, but my email isnt working so I can't set up accounts at the moment. If I could my points would be these: Cheaper than GW kroxigor, better for players on a budget like me Provides Variety in units, I for one don't like to see units of Krox with 3 clear variations, all essentially the same poses. easier to set up Krox units, the price of GW krox can scare players away from fielding krox as a special unit, or as a horde, your krox provide more options. Lastly a couple rants at the posters: Baluc needs to learn "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing" scalebug should be more tolerant of "happy amatuers" after all how are great sculptors made if not through practise As for myself, when I come around to getting some Krox I shall definately look to these
Haters gonna hate! I'm not on the Warhammer forum, but you can tell them that you can't buy individual Krox anymore. So really the savings is 3x that of what you get from GW! Also, I doubt those guys are actually LM players. I actually lol'd at the proxigor joke. That's kind of funny.
"Raaaaiiin on your wedding day, a free ride when you've already paid" So me purchasing several Kroxigors on e-bay at $13 each saved me no money really. Let me know if something plastic comes out because I'd like to convert some undead Kroxigor for my LM themed VC army
These are plastic, actually. Wistrel, I think your comments are spot on, and thanks for the moral support. And to Old Mossy, and anyone else who jumped in. I should probably allow discretion to be the better part of valor, but I posted a follow-up on both lists (and yes, Warseer was far less acidic...) I have to say, the gamers in my group, who spend a lot more time on-line than I do, warned me to stay away from Warhammer.org because of the number of vicious haters that site seems to attract. I can see what they meant. Oh well, whatever - these are actually really nice miniatures and I'm sure anyone who gets them will enjoy them and feel that they got more than their money's worth. Really looking forward to seeing how other people interpret them in different paint schemes too
The guys on Warseer seem pretty ok? I'll be honest with you, they're not really my cup of tea either, a bit too rounded and bulky, and the big club weapon seems a bit weird. But I'm just a huge fan of the 5th edition kroxigor, nothing can beat those imo.
Here is a photo that I took on the run this morning with my Droid camera-phone (not the best camera, sorry!) I wanted you guys to see my Crocs in a Skrox unit with one of GW's figures, for comparison. Personally, and YMMV, the more I look at this unit the more I want to sculpt a Croc champion of my own in place of the GW "Ancient", a figure that I never really liked at all and which led me to do my own sculpting in the first place. Nevertheless, in terms of scale and overall feel, I think the Crocs work pretty seamlessly together with the Krox, and since all of these are painted in the same color scheme, I think it makes comparison easier. Please excuse the over-sized Skink Chief obscuring part of the GW figure - I should have swapped that figure out before taking this picture - it's a lovely figure, but stands more than a head taller than the tallest skink...nice going GW! Again, opinions can differ, and tolerance is what makes the world go 'round. To me, the more variation, the better
Oh wow, those guys are bigger than I was thinking. Very cool. It looks like the one on the right is about to smash your overly tall skink.
I plan to do a third (maybe even a 4th), but will probably want to finish my salamander and finishing painting my Steggies first. All in good time
So awesome. Those guys look like they are ready to kill anything in their path! Some even look like they are eying up things in their own unit... hehehehe...
I see what you mean - the guy with the club looks like he's eyeing the skink drummer rather menacingly...
I think these are really, really cool. Only problem is for me that they are a little on the expensive side.
GW Kroxigors are $52 for a box of three ($17.33 each), and the finecast they are made of is a far inferior quality of resin. My figures from Chapterhouse are $13 each, and the resin is a very high quality plastic. I call that a bargain.
Well I live in England so it's more expensive for me. Do chapterhouse charge for shipping? That could knock it up a bit. I'm not suggesting that they are worse than the GW ones either, and like I said I really do like them. I font understand the hate they got on the warhammer forum either. I just don't think that the price is good enough really. If they had been sold for maybe 8 fillers each you'd have sold a lot more. Not only does it open up the models to more people it opens up the options people have. If they'd have been 8 each I could easily justify buying 18 and running a horde.
Gratz on the production nice looking models as for the haters just remember those who can do those who cant crtic i will have to do asearch for anything they produce or paint and repay them in kind with honesty. Stu
