I'm currently experimenting with a new army of lizards. Lizards are my one true love in warhammer, and I've wanted to use the new models, especially the saurus and chameleons inspire me. For this army I wanted a different theme than what I currently have in my old lizard army, which is desert themed, with some inspiration from the southlands. For this new army, my thoughts are to have it themed around naturalistic colors, and have it be more grounded. That is not to say that there can't be color, but there should, as a general rule of thumb not be, say a brightly colored pink skink. The idea I think stems from walking with dinosaurs, and in my mind I have an image of something jungle-ish, but more on the lines of a redwoods forest, with dark soft ground, that is not muddy, but there could be clear streams of water and there are lots of ferns. Okay so on to my experiments. If you, dear reader has any ideas and or feedback, please give it, even if I don't end up using it directly, it might point me in a useful direction, which is just as valuable, or even show me what doesn't work, which also helps narrow the theme down in terms of painting. So without further ado. The Saurus, which I think works quite well: Chameleon Skink - which I also think has potential: And then two variations of Skink, which I'm struggling with. It just doesn't seem quite right.
Those are all so creative. The orange around the Skink's eyes is a really neat touch. My favorite is the chameleon skink, he looks really unique.
I like the chameleon skink best myself as well but I'm glad you like the orange around the eyes, though I just feel the model lacks something, the brown is a bit too overpowering at the moment.
