Hey, I'm just starting out with Lizardmen as I got given a Slann Mage-Priest by someone who didn't know I played Orcs and I love the model. I have the Army book and have picked up a few models that I liked the look of but before I get anything else I wanted to get some opinions on the first 1000 points. Let me know what you think Scar-Vet With Burning Blade of Chotec and Enchanted Shield Level 2 Skink Priest, Plaque of Tepok 17 Saurus Warriors (Hand Weapon and Shield) Standard and Musician 16 Skinks with Standard and Musician and 2 Krox 5 Chameleons with Stalker 2 Sally Hunting Packs 2 Sally Hunting Packs I think thats dead on 1000 points but I can't tell how well it will run. Normal opponents are High Elves, Skaven, Dark Elves, Deamons and Bretonians As an aside can anyone tell me if: A: in larger games (2K) whether the Engine is worth taking or not? B: Terradons are worth taking at all? Thanks
Excellent choices, a Dragonhelm with a regular shield+light armor may be a slightly more streamlined build for the Scar-Vet than taking the Enchanted Shield. Good ideas here, though I think you need a bunker for your Skink Priest. Personally I would take a larger unit of Saurus and some Skirmishers for the bunker 4 sallies are illegal at 1000 points, and way overkill. 2 of them in seperate units should still be disgustingly powerful, the points you save could let you squeeze in a 2nd unit of Chameleons and a unit of Terradons instead. A: I like to think of the Engine as an addon to having a Skink Priest in the list, for me its usually a question of bringing a Dispel Scroll along when the Slann is carrying Cupped Hands. The Engine and the Ancient Steg are just gravy. The real problem with taking it is the Hero allowance it occupies, since Scar-Vets are rockstars. B: I love Terradons, if you compare them to Eagles or Harpies they are just way superior. And if you make good use of the rocks, you'll be able to earn in the 40 point difference in cost. Fast Cav, Scouts, Light flyers, skaven warmachines etc. are perfect targets to throw rocks at. The stomp attacks make them a rather strong little cc units in the right situation aswell. I find that they are perfect at dealing with the units your opponent will try and take out your Skinks and Chamo's with, they really dominate most chalf in the game. I only wish I could find enough points in my lists to include 2 units, they never fail me.
Hi, Thanks. Why are 2 lots of 2 sallies illegal at 1K I thought you could take up to 25% in rare and no more than 2 units of the same type? I agree that its overkill and two units of one is more flexible but its useful to know what I can legally take. Also didn't know that Terradons got a stomp attack. Really liked the idea of them but couldn't quite see how they worked. If they get stomp I now can. and i'll find space for them in the list. If I dropped the Skrox unit for skirmishers and the fill out the Saurus as you suggest would I just be looking to shield the Saurus with the skirmishers or are there different ways of using them. Having been a Orc and Goblin player I don't get to use skirmishers. Thanks again
So...With the comments taken on board and a few questions answered this is the new 1000 point list 2.0 Let me know what you think. Scar-Vet, Light Armour, Burning Blade of Chotec, Enchanted Shield, Dragonbane Gem and The Other Tricksters Shard. Level 2 Skink Priest, Plaque of Tepok 22 Saurus Warriors HW & S, Std and Mus, Bunkering the Priest and led by Scar-Vet 2 x 12 Skink Skirmishers 3 Terradon Riders 6 Chameleon Skinks Salamander Hunting Pack with extra snack Salamander Hunting Pack with extra snack Scar-Vet should be able to take on most things found @ 1K without too much trouble or at least hold his own. Everything else basically eliminates threats to the Saurus block or weakens enemy units before the Saurus eat them.
Well 4 sallies are illegal bacause they cost 300 points in total, which is more than the 25% allowed. I always try and use Skirmishers as a flexible shooting units, using the free skirmish movement to get out of the front arc of enemy blocks etc. Using them as screeners and redirectors is good aswell, but you obviously shouldn't do that with a Priest in the unit. Saurus aren't really that vulnerable to shooting though, and the Terradons can perform as redirectors quite well after they've dropped their rocks. I like the list, though you could save a few points by taking the Dragonhelm instead of the Enchanted Shield+Dragonbane Gem.
If I could add up I would have noticed that Thanks. WI will swap out for the dragon helm I think. I'll have a re-think and see where I end up
