Is it just me or do the new skink command units look kinda wierd? Or are they just old models that are being re-released that don't match the new plastic skinks as well? And I am still out on the model for Oxyotl, I don't think the orange paint job does him justice.
For those of you who have not seen them: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat440004a&rootCatGameStyle= My take on them: EEEEWWWWWW. Those look horrible. They look like the old models to me. That Oxyotl does nothing for me either. It may be the orange color. On closer inspection, those skink models all have 5 fingers. The newer models only have 4. Those are old models.
I can't imagine any colour suiting that ugly thing. The guys at Warhammer have officially under-estimated the generals of Lizardmen if they think we are going to buy THAT. And those command figures - there are slight differences to the old, but really not that much to lose sleep over. I personally prefer the old command squad models, much more Lizardy.

I am rather unimpressed as well. Anyone can easily make better looking command units from spare parts from the Stegadon kit, and I was really hoping for an Oxyotl model that more resembled the artwork in the Army Book. I also don't like the move back to the old-style models with humanlike hands and feet.
As Previously stated, these models are old. They are from 1996 warhammer 5th edition. I know this because I already own several of them. Cheers
Oxyotl might be old sculpt. From different ancle it may be ok, and with different colour scheme skink command doesnt differ from 5th ed. skink command. Same models (and I have about 2 standards and 3 musicians)
Not liking the looks of the models, whether they are old or new. It would be nice to get some skink command that fits the looks of the current skinks.
The Oxyotl is the exact same sculpt produced 14 years ago. Im holding the model in my hands and I can see no difference. At least im happy to know that Games Workshop takes care of some of their old molds and I'm still hoping for a rerelease of the whole range of archived classic models. Anyone have any idea why GW has decided to rerelease both oxyotl and the skink commands when there are perfectly good kitbash possabilites from the stegadon kit? Cheers
Sales for the collectors or people who don't convert? They have the molds already, so there is no sculpting cost upfront. Win-win.
I actually like the Oxyotl model (Not the other ones). I think he looks more intimidating (in a unnatural, otherworldly sense) then the other chameleons.
Yeah I heard about this happening on warseer a while ago, and was not impressed. Now that I have seen the models, still not impressed. Who is going to pay that much for old command models that don't really suit the new units when it is so easy to make your own? Who wants two metal models in a plastic unit? I am sure some people will appreciate it though, especially those who remember when the models first came out. The Oxyotl, I actually don't mind that guy. His head shape is rather cool. Doubt I will buy it though.
WOW! Those look nothing like the skinks we have today! Man I'm glad conversion and kit bashing is easy!
I'm glad the Skaven are getting another splash in January. I mean, it'd be a shame for us to hog all the glory. I'm sure we all sound like spoiled brats to Tomb King players though. But seriously, thats our splash?! Ugh.
I bought a box of old Lizardman stuff from a guy that used to play them years and years ago, and all those models were in there. There's something really odd about them; I don't think they fit in with the nice plastic figures.
