    Hello everyone!

First, let me say, I've loved reading some of the stuff here.

Secondly, let me say - I'm glad I became a Lizardmen player.

Now, I got into Warhammer 40,000 years ago through Dawn of War. Recently however, due to friends doing Fantasy and it being generally cooler, and I became a Lizardmen player. What I'm going to ask is a little varied...

    A. Any advice for how to build my army out?

    B. Second, I have a few units already from presents and eBay. These units are as follows...

    -Ancient Stegadon w/ Skink Priest
-40 Saurus Warriors (20 are out of print)
    -10 Temple Guard
    -8 Cold One Cavalry
    -12 Skinks

Of course, you can tell what I have. I have the Battalion, a Stegadon kit, and twenty Saurus Warriors purchased separately (great deal too, 20 dollars.). I also have the extra Skink Chief from the Stegadon kit. I intend to expand the army. Any advice as to how?

Also, the people I will likely be playing against play Orcs/Goblins, Tomb Kings, Skaven, and Warriors of Chaos.

it's all about preference :) Do you prefer a balanced army, a fast army, a heavy hand-to-hand army, a monster-heavy army.. Best thing to do is figure out which of those you prefer and then build a decent army in that direction, THEN start buying extra pieces so you can play other styles if you want to ;) Me for instance, I play heavy H2H. I basically have what you have but more Saurus Warriors, a couple salamanders (because they are just too amazing), and then a Saurus Oldblood. Most people that play Lizardmen tend to hinge their battle plans around a Slann as the general so you might consider that one as it is a little more advisable ;) But, like I said, it all comes down to preference. Your collection is off to a great start! So once you decide what you want to do, let us know and we can help you go from there ;)

And congrats on picking Lizardmen! Best army there is :beaver:

Welcome to the forum! The Captain summed it up fairly well. My preference would be to bulk up on skinks. I love the skinks/skrox combination. It moves fast (mv6), and has decent shooting. When you put together a skrox unit (kroxigors and skinks), you have a fear causing, immune to stomp (and the dreaded 13th spell from skaven) unit that packs a nice punch. This unit is great for flanking. It can even be used more directly at larger sizes.

I would also recommend getting a slann fairly quickly. That skink chief could be used on a base as well as using it on the stegadon (skink chief with warspear). The chief would get the use of the giant blowpipes and cause 2d6 impact hits (this decimates elves).

    Thanks for the advice, guys.

I was looking at possibly magnetizing the chief and the priest so I could use them on the Stegadon and then if it dies, have them carry on.

I'm glad to see that the Skrox are good, because I was really wanting to use a few of those. I have to say however that I really do want to use a balanced army with a bit of emphasis on the H2H as the Saurus Warriors are just so damn badass.

So what it looks like I should invest in is this...

    -More Skinks.
    -More Saurus Warriors.
    -Slann.
-Maybe more TG to defend the Slann.

Kroxigors and Salamanders aren't as required as the above, are they?

Also, does anyone know of anywhere I could get a Slann for less than fifty-sixty dollars? GWS's are around there and I haven't seen a single one on eBay for that much.

    Haha, true.

Besides, I should probably focus on finishing my current minis before expanding too much... :p

yeah, well the plan you have on thickening the core troops is really the way to go! And if you are planning on getting a Slann in the future then you definitely want to buff out your unit of Temple Guard.

Kroxigors are necessary if you plan on running a unit of Skrox, that's for sure ;) as for the Salamanders, you would have to read up on their many uses to be able to decide but I believe that about 99... MAYBE 98 percent of the players on this forum and a few other Lizzy hiding holes prefer to have them :) You can read up on them a bit for yourself in this thread:
