According to a posting on Bell of lost souls listing September's releases the Lizardmen will be getting a new Plastic Old Blood. Unfortunately there are no pictures or source for the information but as the information lists prices I would imagine a retailer provided the list. Anyway what does everyone think? Will this be a new model or will it be a re cast of a previous model? The release is listed for 10 September so if correct I guess will appear in the Next White Dwarf.
This is great news! I highly doubt that it will be a re-cast, it would be metal into finecast not metal into plastic. I hope it has different options i.e. great weapon plus sword and board.
Yeah I'm hoping we'll get lots of options with it and that it will combine well with the finecast carnosaur. I've just been using spare temple guard models as Old Bloods and Scar Vets up till now but could be tempted with this new model
I actually saw it today in the new white dwarf. It´s a new model with a handweapon and shield, didn´t say anything about variations in gear so I guess we´ll have to wait and see. The cairn wraith released this month came with a few spare heads that wasn´t mentioned in the white dwarf when it was about to be released.
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5733139&postcount=59 (Pic of Scarvet) Seems a bit odd with the long teeth and long toe claw, also looks like they took some insperation from Chakax. The head seems ok, though somewhat elongated.
Im going to reserve full judgement until I can see the whole model, but from that profile shot I am not impressed. Why is his tongue out? Is he trying to french kiss the ogre? And Im not a huge fan of the giant foot claw. Hopefully it looks better from the other angles.
Hmmm... looks a lot like something you could accomplish with a temple guard model and a CoC head, and that would be without the tongue and claw. That said, show some more tail and weapon, pls!
the part that i like on the model is the armour. I know we wear only wear light armor but cmon that looks alot sweeter than the little plates on the back for armour. i hope they come out with new temple guard models then also
I actually love it. It says a lot of giant-war-ready-rip-your-face-off lizard-covered-in-gold, and i absolutely love that.
another angle from the same thread: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5733009&postcount=44 I like this angle a lot more. Breastplate, shield, and belt/groin piece look pretty boss. Wish you could see more of the weapon/tail, though. Edit: If there's some nice alternate weapons for that guy, I think I'll get him, claws, tongue, and all. Double edit: Guess I probs shouldn't image leech.
Love the model, really sweet whats wrong with tungue and claw? they look nice, sik!!!! trulely like a war ready Lizard Dislikes is for shields... i hate them, they cover alot of figue and dont loook nice. i mean skaly skin on skaly model, like butter on buteer, not nice :\ gold shields would be nicer. And if theres no kit for him, that is if only hand wep and shield no halberd, great weapon, hand without shield its lame.
Wow.. I actually preferred only seeing the side view pic (first one). He looks weird to me from the front. The 'helmet' looks cool, the back armour looks cool, but thats as far as it goes for me really. Don't expect any kind of options on this kit. It will come in a blister like the other 4 recently released plastic characters (DE sorceress, VC necromancer, chaos character and..... Something I don't remember) they have no options whatsover. What you will essentially get is a very expensive piece of plastic. It will probably come in at close to half the cost of a unit of saurus just for the one plastic with no options. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing plastic characters, but they either need a ton of options (Empire and HE wizards etc) or to be much cheaper than metal characters. GW can't have both a cheap arse material and very high prices in my books. I also don't really understand why they are pumping out new plastic characters so soon after unveiling the supposedly amazing and unmatchable quality of failcast.. Surely they should be making new characters in that instead? On a slightly related note, for all those who have listened to me saying resin Slann coming in August, looks like I was a month off and he will come out in September instead. Most of the remaining metals are apparently going resin in this wave, so if you want a miscast free Chakax grab him now.
That angle is a little better but I still am not a huge fan. The big claw looks really out of place. The tongue looks better from this angle. I actually prefer the metal scar vet model. I always picture lizard men as being muscular lithe killing machines. This guy seems to be a big block. I actually think he has too much armor. On the plus side it will be in plastic so it will be easier to convert. Ill still probably buy the model. Im a sucker. Also cant wait for more finecast lizards. I kept putting off buying krox until it was too late.
why dont you like the big claw? IMHO it give quite nice flawor for the veteran, looks more predatory for me
At the moment I think it looks out of place. Its almost comically big. The big claw on the back foot is ok. Of course all this is based on the pictures. There have been plenty of times in the past where I hated the picture and the actual model was awesome. I will probably buy one anyways. Honestly I havent been a big fan of the past couple lizardman character releases. They are starting to get very blocky.
It looks like it might be a Gor-Roq character, don't think it is as it would have been mentioned by now. The axe/hammer type weapon along with him looking like a wall is what gives me that impression.
I like it, but it doesn't look distinctive enough. Like someone else said, we can get something just as good by kitbashing TG and and Cold Ones Cav. I would expect a hero to stand out more than this one. The toe claw reminds me of the raptors in Jurassic Park.
Not that keen tbh. Pointless not giving him options, I mean, why the dang not? Oldblood with Great weapon and magical heavy armour, come on, it's a standard build, why not give him the option? Plus they could have then modelled him in a sweet dynamic pose, swinging the axe in an arc or whatever. But no, instead it's, 'Here, pay £10 for a slightly-different-looking Saurus model on foot which is an Oldblood, honest.'. You could just convert a TG and get something pretty much as good. I'm a bit worried about what people are saying about all these 'miscasts' in Finecast. When the Slann comes out in Finecast I'm definitely giving him Cupped Hands so he's protected from the miscast.
