    Hi all,

So I'm new to the forum and the game in general. I plan on picking up LM as my army, but I'm not sure where to start exactly. I've done some research but I want to hear your opinions. I plan to mostly just play with friends at 1000 points (all of us a new to WHF, but we have played 40K before). They play Skaven, HE, and WoC. We are all making kind of fluffy armies, buy I still like winning :) so thoughts?

Also I hope I put this in the right place

    Welcome to Lustria-Online!

If you guys are all newbies and playing at 1000 points, it's probably better to make a balanced army rather than trying to come up with an anti-Skaven/HE/WOC army.

Are you playing your early games sans magic or are you starting off with wizards too?

I'd suggest you buy an army box, then buy an extra box of Skinks, then either buy some basic characters or modify some regular troopers into characters. At this early stage, I doubt anyone will mind if you sub Saurus Warriors for Temple Guard (TG) or visa versa and play Skink Skirmishers as Chameleon Skinks.

At 1000 points I like to take a Skink Priest general and a Scar Veteran Battle Standard Bearer (unless at this beginner stage you and your friends make an agreement to leave out wizards or BSBs).

I'd take a block of 15-25 Saurus Warriors and a unit of 10 Skink Skirmishers. That will leave you with roughly 400 points to buy other stuff. With your army box you can field a unit of Cold One Cavalry and additional Skinks, Chamo Skinks, or more Saurus (or TG infantry). My advice is to field whatever you think looks cool and would be fun to assemble or paint, unless you are eyeing the Troglodon. The Troglodon is a fairly difficult to use and should probably never be used in a Slann-less army.

When you are transitioning from casual games I would suggest giving the Tactica Index a look (linked in my signature). That should give you hours of reading tips and guidelines for playing Lizardmen.

Welcome to the forums and yes you are definitely in the right place... A battalion box is a great value to get a lot of models. +1 for the preist and extra skink box too. Best of luck.

Welcome to Lustria. Always great to have another follower of the Old Ones. The advice for the battalion box as a way to start is a good one. It is a great base to build from for the future too.

Thank you all for the responses! I'm sorry I took so long to reply, responsibility always get in the way of fun :( But I will definitely take all your advice into account. I have started to read the tactica here, as well as any other place I can find. I suspect we will go to tournaments eventually, but until then I'll do my best to make Old Ones proud! :)

    Thanks again,
