Posted on dakka dakka and didnt get much responce on it, im new to 8th ed and also to lizardmen, have had skaven and high elf armys in past editions, would like to see how people view this list and how to tweak it to make it better, ive heard salamanders are excellent for their points costs but i didnt know where i could fit them in with this list.

the main idea with this is that the temple guard and the saurus are the main anvil to the army and can give or take punnishent, the terradons deal with the warmachines and pesky lone wizards, kroxs used to flank and smash units, and the skinks be pesky and try and pull units out of the battle line for the saurus to exploit

Firstly, welcome to the forum and welcome to lizzies.

    Ok the list:

    Slann Mage
    Life
    2 Disciplines
    Focus of Mystery
    Harrowing Scruitiny
    Rod of storm

i personally, and many on hear will agree, with BSB rerolling Ld Harrowing Scrutiny is a bit of a waste on a slaan. better options would be either rumination to boost your own magic or becalming to hinder the enemies. wouldn't take rod of storm either, save the points IMO

    Scar Vet
    Shield Mirrored Pool
    Light Armour
    Sword of Battle

not much wrong with this guy, but you could probably find better than the sword of battle with your spare points

    10 Skink Skirmishers

    10 Skinks Skirmishers

blowpipes or javelin/shield for these guys, i'd reccomend javelin/shield

    20 Saurus Warriors
    spears
    standard

    20 Saurus Warriors
    spears
    standard

Fine, but i would take a champion in the unit you plan to put the scar vet with in case some badass comes along and you don't want the scar vet to be killed, such as some chaos heros, accept with the champion instead

    20 Temple Guard
    Guardian
    Blood statuette
    Standard
    Totem of prophecy

    Like it

    6 Kroxigors

They'll certainly bring the pain, also consider making those 20 skirmishers cohorts and adding a few krox to the unit, you may like the results ;)

    3 Terradons

Great for drop rocks and warmachine hunting

    Total 1987

Overall mate, a nice list with a couple of tweaks, but these are to equipment rather than models, very nice for a newbie to lizards. Would like to see some pics of painted stuff.

was going to run the skirmishers wth blowpipes thats the feedback ive been getting, also it has been suggested to me that i drop the rod and make the slann the bsb.

the krox are my hitting unit have a rank and also get to support with their full attacks-mean. the slann will try and keep these alive and boost them up. Also if the attrack a lot of fire power- great means the saurus are going to be up in their face unscathed then they wil feel the pain :chicken:

as i get the models i will update with pics in the pic section,

    http://www.halforums.com/xenforo/threads/painted-warhammer-and-warhammer-40k-miniatures.16198

this is a sort of colour scheme i will be doing, although with a bit more colour on it, and swapping a few bits around so the slann would be mainly yellow and probs the skinks and the krox as well and will keep to a limited pallet and just varying its use

Blowpipes get more shots yes, but javs are quick to shoot, which means you can always stand and shoot, and i know its not much but a 6+ parry is nice as well.

Play test the list, see what works and what doesn't before you go changing the list based on other peoples opinions.

i will do- although my reasoning behind the blow pipes is that if skinks are in combat they have probs lost anyway and so the parry is just supufelous and would rather use them as a harrying unit to pull things out of place for the saurus to munch

but i will play test both and see what fits my style

well the guys seem so have picked it of for me, but there´s one thing. you have no salamanders. i´d really get 1 or 2 of these and also exchange terradons for chameleon skinks and use them to trake out warmachines.

i´d also try to boost my saurus a bit. 25-30 is good.

if i were to boost the saurus and also add some salamanders what would you propose dropping/changing to fit them in,

also i have the points spare to put the champion in a saurus unit so will do that and will change harrowing to ruination

I would drop the kroxigors and with the points slap banner of eternal flame on the TG (flaming attacks are nice if you see abominations, vargulfs, trolls, etc), take 2 salamanders w/extra treats (separate them for best effect) and then you have 180 points or so to play with. You could use that to just take 3 Krox as flankers or a set of 5 COR or up your Saurus, lots of options.

But that fits my playstyle and really, if you tweak the slann your list isn't that bad at all.

anyway been playing with this list and really think its hard to fit everything in, i want the extra hitting from 6 krox but dont want to drop the salamanders to do this, i would prefer 5 terradons to 3 but then the points have to come from somewhere,

im tempted to drop the krox and the terradons and try and fiddle about with the list to fit a stegadon in, oh so many choices damn lizardmen for being expensive in points

the other option is to drop the slan take a oldblood on a carnasur drop the TG and use that to get some stegs,

tempting to go with carnasaur 2 blocks of lizards a few skinks a few Krox and and a priest with EOTG
