    Hey folks,

I played Lizardmen throughout 7th Edition, and just recently have gotten back into the hobby. I am slowly getting a grasp on some of the new rules but am definately in shambles when it comes to new doctrine for our army.

My old army of 2000 pts no longer works point wise or mechanic wise so I am on the look out for advise and thoughts on what I should build my typical "Tourney" army toward. I generally like to have enough models to make two different lists for a change of pace.

So far what I am thinking is this.

    List A

Will focus on the awesome power of the Slann, likely with a large contingent of Temple Guard and the lore of life for the Slann. Likely a few Saurus blocks, stegadon, sallies and skinks to round it out. Still unsure how to employ Kroxigors in the newest edition but maybe slide those in as well.

    List B

Nearly a null magic army, maybe a few skinks. This army I hope to focus on the power of the dinosaur, oldblood on a carnosaur, and 2-3 stegadons, some terradons, salamanders and likely a lot of skinks to round out the army.

    Hello and welcome to Lustria-Online!

In regards to your army ideas, unless you are playing a low point game (under 1000 points), then I'd suggest putting in *some* type of mage as 8th edition is fairly magic-heavy. If not for casting, then having them for dispelling and some buffs.

Your first list sounds much like a standard list. However, a unit of about 20 TG would be fine for a slann bunker. Some would suggest 25. Personally, I wouldn't go much more than that. With the devestation of miscasts in 8th edition, it wouldn't be pretty to see a large point unit get decimated by your own spells. As far as Kroxigors go.. my favorite is the Skrox unit. I have used this unit to good effect - having my slann equipped with Lore of Life, casting Throne of Vines and a buff spell on the skrox unit to add a +4 toughness to each model. There are other ways of buffing them up as well from other lores (light) that works well too.

We have so many good tacticians on this forum and I'm sure others will chip in too! :-D Once again, good luck and welcome!
