    Hey all,

Nice forum you have here. I spend most of my time over at warhammer-empire.com but am in the process of starting a lizardman army. I was reading through the book last night and the Slann has a special rule called "Unit strength 3". I can't find it anywhere and when I search online it gives me the errata but I can't find it in there either, what does that mean?

Also in looking through the book in the part with the color pictures, it says that skinks and saraus are different colors of blue. Does the fluff talk about them having to be blue, is that something that is given reason in the fluff?

I ask because I am planning my army's fluff and am going to put it somewhere in the southlands as a long lost city (since the time that the coastal city fell into the ocean) and since that is the desert figured they may be other colors than just blue. Also, I don't know how pumped I am to paint all of them blue, just seems dull to me.

Unit Strength 3 is an outdated rule I believe, so its just ignored during the game. The Lizardmen book is 7th Edition while the Rules are 8th Edition so some things have been Errata'd out.

You can paint things however you want, I try to paint mine with Spawning Themes from the 6th Edition Lizardmen Book. You should look around on the Painting Forum, alot of people have great ideas for how to paint all kinds of our models.

    Welcome to the forum!

The unit strength 3 rule does not apply in 8th edition. That is an old rule that no longer matters. The color is up to you. You should not be locked into blue. However, I do not know much of the fluff (never cared for it myself).

Look through our painting sections for some good color combos. I use white (skinks), red (saurus), and purple (temple guard, tarradons, slann) for my army.

Our Fluff is pretty hardcore stuff, The Old Ones (which also are talked about in 40k) Spawned the Slann, then Skinks, Saurus, Krox were created (Then the Old Ones aided in creating or evolving other races - Humans, Elves...) to prepare the world for ... Something.

Then the magic-science the Old Ones used was corrupted by the realm of Chaos, the Old Ones Vanished and everything the Slann and Old Ones were working on were shattered.

Now the few remaining Slann who have never even communicated with an Old One (Only the 1st Generation Slanns did) are trying to figure out what the hell the Old Ones were trying to do...

The most important thing to happen to the Lizardmen since the Old Ones vanished was the coming of Sotek, the Serpent Blood God. He's about the best thing the Lizardmen have in terms of a future.

I think our Fluff is the best out of all the fantasy races in my opinion it covers ALOT of history.

Yep, that's why I'm thinking of using the fluff of some long lost southland city for my army. When the city fell into the sea, the communication pathways were lost. The slann or two that was at this outpost city were very young and have not been able to communicate with the rest of the Lizardmen since. This may lead to some interesting kitbashing or conversions since they are no longer in contact with the main civilization, maybe their spawning pools adapt to the environment a little or the slann that are there do not know a lot because of the isolation and are kind of winging.

Yeah, definitely paint them how you want/can. An aquatic city in the Southlands sounds awesome! Keep in mind that most of the Southlands cities can't produce Saurus as easily as in Lustria, but that doesn't mean your city is in deficit.

Personally, I'm looking at a Gila Monster theme (local big lizard).
