The list proper is not too bad. Pretty standard array of threats. Couple of comments:

When posting lists, you don't need to list absolutely everything the unit has. For ease of reading, only focus on options. So for the razordons, you don't need to list each handler. There is no way to have less than 3. Instead, just write something like: 1x Razordon w/ extra snack. Also, every unit has a hand weapon, so there is no reason to write that in each time.

When writing out units like the saurus, you can just say "48 saurus, full command, shields". The only options for saurus are spears or shields, so you only need to indicate which option you picked.

Regarding rules: You cannot pick both options for saurus: You either have shields or you have spears. You can't take both.

Regarding the Slann: you can't take focus of mystery and one of the lores. It is one or the other. You either have loremaster for high magic, or you have one of the 8 lores. If you have the points, you may want to make him the BSB as well as the general, as the reroll on leadership tests can prove very useful. All of the disciplines for the slann can be useful. Try them out and see what you find like. Check out this link for an overview of all of them: http://www.lustria-online.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12415

Give the priest a dispel scroll. The extra magic defense is quite useful.

Regarding the scar-vets: You can't give them a great weapon and a magic weapon. They only use the magic weapon, so why waste the points on the great weapon? Also, why did you give your one scar-vet a shield and a great weapon? He can't use them at the same time. Give him light armor instead so that he always has his 1+ armor save. Also, be sure to actually get him down to a 1+. Just light armor only gets him to a 2+. You need either heavy armor or light armor and a shield (if you take the shield, then you need to give him a spear instead so that he can use it).

Don't spend so much in core. Spend the bare minimum so that you have more points for our deadlier options.

Don't do blowpipes on skirmishers. Shield and javelins are more useful, as they are quick to fire. With blowpipes, if you are not in close range, you are hitting on 7 if you doubletap, which means that poison does not work. Stand and shoot is the same thing. If you are only going to be able to shoot once anyway, you may as well hit more often and have the extra defense.

Don't take the flaming banner on one of your big units. It tends to hurt you more than help you. Every army has access to the dragonhelm and the dragonbane gem, while many armies do not have access to regen or flammable units. I once saw a skink chief on a ripper take out an entire unit of tomb king chariots by himself because the tomb king player took the flaming banner and the skink chief had the dragonhelm.

Last thing: single razordons are weak. Razordons work best in groups of 2 or 3, especially when boosted with hand of glory (high magic spell). If you want to take a single hunting pack, take salamanders instead. They can easily take out a large number of infantry with a single shot, whereas a single razordon may take out a single guy with their volley.

Hopefully this helps you out a bit.

both versions have shields and hand weapons, rather it's spears or no spears.
(not that you can actually use the hand weapon if you have a spear)

Whoops, my mistake. For some reason I thought you lost the shields if you took spears. You just can't use it while you are in combat. That is good, since that means I've been playing wrong (I had been acting as though I had a 5+ AS vs shooting when I took spears instead of the appropriate 4+).

The 5+ parry save come from the hand weapon + shield combo. :artist:

Nothing quite like being told you are wrong to make you learn the rules better.

My mistake had been two-fold: I thought it was spears OR shields, and I thought that spears were two handed weapons when wielded by infantry. Both of these assumptions are wrong.

So it looks like the actual tradeoff for saurus is choosing whether you have an extra rank of attacks when you are charged (spears) or a 6+ parry save (hand weapons and shields).

Saurus ALWAYS have a 4+ armor save.

I guess that is why people take the engine of the gods with spear saurus, as it gives you the best of both worlds.

Thanks for helping me realize my mistake, n810!

No worries it's a Common mistake,
also worth note, while great weapons and halberds are two handed,
you may use your shield out of close combat for extra armor (if you have one).

I second the Slann as BSB and I think you might like Wandering deliberations... The low casting cost keeps you fairly well insulated from miscast in the TG and that'll give you shem's, fireball, etc. for flaming magic spells and gives you a toolbox for anything you might face. The only other thing I might try to do is upgrade to an ancient steg. Best of luck; I like the razordons; they're great at dealing with chaff.

You can save a lot of time if your base comes in a spray can or an airbrush. My rank and file guys are just based in a flat tan and then I add the darker scales and paint their items. After that a wash and a highlight stage and they are virtually done excluding the base. I wanted a natural desert look for the most part. That also made basing easy becuase I just use sand which is super cheap.

As far as characters or monters go I take a more traditional approach basing them in black first and adding layers of paint until I get the desired look. They are generally the showcase pieces so they get a little more effort.

Just make sure that if you do this you get a decent quality paint that sprays even and practice your techniques so it doesn't go on too heavy. It must be flat! No gloss or satin; it just looks horrible. Camoflauge paints are easy to find so variations of green, tan, black and gray are easy. GW and other model color companies produce colors at a much higher price. Best of luck!
