Hey guys, Im actually new to Warhammer itself as i have only really been playing for about 5 months, and still havent really go the hang of rules, tactics, ect.. My friends whom i mainly play with field Beastmen Daemons of chaos Vampire counts High Elves Now this coming sunday i was going to buy my first lizardman army; Now i already have a small warriors of chaos army but i actually hate them at the moment lol. I have already brought Chakax, the eternity warden( just because he looks so god damn awesome ) got the rulebook, i brought 1 razordon, 1 slaan mage priest, 2 skink priests, and a skink champion. I only brought these models because i prefer the metal 1's to the finecast!. The models i will be buying at the weekend are 1 lizardman Battilion 1 box of saurus warriors 1 box of skinks 1 stegadon combined with the units i have previously brought is there anything that you guys would prioritise more then what i am buying to make an ample army list?... i sorry for the long thread but i have so many concerns after playing warriors of chaos... as lizardman tend to be slower and still fairly expenisive...? lore of death witht the high elves player is a big concern for me!! Just after general tactics or any advice you guys may have... Thanks for your time!
Its a good start to an army, as you progress to larger battles (2k+) you will want a few more Temple Guard and a Slann. Keep in mind the Slann is meant to be going resin next month, so if you prefer metal not resin get it now. If your budget means you have to wipe something from the list, hold off on the steg. They are a decent unit, but nowhere near what they used to be so not essential to an army. The other important thing you will need is salamanders. Minimum 2. They really are the best choice in the army, and first selection for most people. Finally, some warmachine/mage hunters are useful. Take your pick out of terradons or charmeleon skinks. Both have stupidly expensive models, so convert them from other things. Welcome to the board and the Lizardmen! Good luck with them!
What I dont understand is..... What makes terrdon riders abd chameleon skinks good mage killers?? Cant he just hide hia mage in a unit.? I thought I would be best battering it with a stegadon! Lol
Yep mages can just hide in a unit to be safe from them, which is why they are mainly for warmachines. It isn't uncommon these days for mages to jump out when combat gets close though. When you can allocate 4-6 models attacks onto the mage all the time for guys being in base to base, they really don't survive long at all in combat and often try to jump out. At this point they are behind units and rather exposed to whatever harrasers you still have hanging around.
