Hi There I have a few questions I hope this is the right forum for this post my apologies if it is not. I have recently purchased the start collecting seraphon box set and i was wondering what to purchase next to continue building my army. Do you think i should buy another box as i see you can make the carnosaur into a trogolodon if you want or a scar-veteran so you could have a old blood on a carnosaur and a scar veteran on one if you wanted if you were to purchase two boxes or would it be better to go with a troglodon and an old blood? In terms of saurus warriors and the mounted ones is it better to split them up into smaller groups of 10 - 20 or have one big unit? I'm looking for a defensive orientated army list rather than offensive until i learn the game in more detail I'm completely new to AoS so your help would be invaluable thanks.
No worries. If you want a defensive army then hold off on the other box get some temple guard, an eternity warden and lord Kroak. Saurus should be in large groups, knights should be smaller more manageable groups.
As Bowser said, no worries! Welcome to team Seraphon ^_^ In addition to Bowser's advice, all of which sounds good to me, I'd also suggest taking a look at the various battalion warscrolls. (apologies if you're already aware of then) Some of them might grant bonuses you want, and building toward them can be good. I think all of them are available in the Age of Sigmar app. But, if you're like me and prefer books, I think almost all Seraphon battalions can be found in either the Grand Alliance: Order or Battletome: Seraphon. I don't have them memorized, so I can't say which is best for defense, but the Eternal Starhost is largely about Saurus Guards, so that might fit your ideas
First of all, welcome aboard! Secondly , the Troglodon is a wonderful model, but it's more a support unit and a resilient arcane vassal. I suggest to think to add it, after you can field a Slann.
Many thanks for your words of wisdom So do i field lord kroak if im using saurus guard or is a normal slann ok i'm liking the look of a defensive list with two bastilodons
Either will work, Kroak osslightly better for defensive, but a regular slann can do some damage output. Bring along a skink priest to make use of the arcane vassal rule.
If you are just playing for fun under the core rules, and have funds, then I'd probably do Kroak in most situations. (I don't have a Kroak, but he sure looks powerful) But if you're playing with the new point values, then Kroak is waaay more expensive, and you may prefer the Slann. Or double down and do both! Frog wizards everywhere!
