Hey guys! I'm a newcomer to the Lizardmen with no models to my name; I'm still figuring out what'd be a good path in terms of how my army is built and how I grow it (I'm a little tight on the wallet >_<).

Here's what I'm thinking for a 1000 pt army and how it can be expanded to a 1500 pt army ^_^. I'd appreciate thoughts on both if possible, but especially the 1000 pt one, as that's where I'll be starting off and want to make sure that I have a decent start. ^_^

    1000 pts:

It'll be a long time before I achieve even the above, but I intend to grow it into the following! (Basically, just a frickin' Carnosaur added! :p)

    1500 Points:

I've heard horror stories about how unfeasible our monsters are, but DAMMMIT, I like Lizardmen because of frickin' dinosaurs and I want to field them! :( I figure I'm handicapping myself a little by being insistent about running dinosaurs, and I'm ok with not being super-competitive, but I don't want to be completely useless either :p. This sounds decent in my head though, so let me know what you guys think! ^__^

    Thanks! :D

May I suggest some war-machine hunters? Personally I love a unit of Chameleon Skinks (absolutely worth the cost). In a 1000pt game I'd run 7-9. I played an 800 pt tournament recently and they were my 2nd most valuable unit of the day (following up my hard-hitting Cold One Cavalry). At 1k point you'll certainly be facing war machines/monsters, so you should have some response to them.

Personally, at 1k points, I would drop one hero and maybe a unit of skirmishers. I would either run a scar-vet cowboy in a unit of cold one cav. OR Tetto'eko in a unit of skinks. Either option comes in under 200 pts.

Expanding to a 1500 pt list, I might add some flanking units (skrox) and/or cold one cav, as well as another hero (personally I'd probably run Tetto'eko and an Oldblood cowboy).

That's how I'd play it, though. I'm by no means an ultra competitive number-cruncher, so the armies I field I play for fun, but they seem to do well enough in the mix. The great thing about Lizardmen is that there are many viable army configurations, especially at these point values. Really there's nothing like playing to figure out what works and what doesn't.
