    Does anyone know anything about which army is going to be redone yet or if they are going to redo any army before the new edition comes out at all?

    So far it's been the tomb kings that are rumored to be getting redone. I think it should be something else though. I agree that GW has a tendancy to forget about armies. They are already releasing sixth edition codexes for 40k like the nids when races like dark eldar don't even have a fourth edition yet. They tend to put more focus on what's most popular and selling best.

    Tomb Kings are definitely on the horizon, but last I heard they had been pushed back because of 8th ed. It is quite possible we won't see another army book this year, which is a shame. Definitely nothing before 8th ed, but I would be surprised if there wasn't one later in the year. I have heard High Elves might be on the cards since they are in the new starter box and get hurt by the composition rules as well as changes to magic and inevitable changes to ASF.

    certainly if the rules change as per the rumours are indicating, high elves are REALLY going to need a new book, so it would make sense to do them.

    personally i reckon they always have several army books 'on the go', and weight the releases accordingly.

    given the rumoured size of the new rulebook, possible to be a new 'ravening hordes' style thing in it? eitherways if it's that big it'll save working out, i can just go play warhammer...

    Yeah I am very curious as to what they are going to put in 200 extra pages of rulebook... Could easily be rules for every army, but if that were the case then why just release beastmen with 8th ed in mind for their rules?

    Another thing to support HE next, GW have traditionally released one of the starter box armies right after the rules so they have all new and fresh stuff. If the other army isn't done soon after, then it was done recently, and as we all know Skaven are pretty new and probably had a bit of 8th ed in mind.

    Ya I was thinking either tomb kings, brettonia, or orgres. but it would be cool for them to be the first to be redone after the new rulebook comes out.

    I have a friend whom is a pretty active member on WarSeer (weather he posts regularly or just likes to read a lot, I don't know). He states the following;

    Tomb Kings is origonally slated to be redone and will likely be released between the months of October and December (just in time for Christmas).

    Strewart is correct in his belief that usually one or both of the armies included in the starter set has a revamped codex. Being that Skaven just came out I would not be surprised if HE got a new book. I've heard several rumors (including some from my WarSeer friend) that HE was going to be shoved between the 8th Edition and Tomb Kings releases.

    Now as far as I'm concerned I'm of the belief that Tomb Kings and Bretonnians are in the most desperate need of a new codex (although both armies seem to be able to still hold their own and even frustrate experianced players). Ogre Kingdoms needs a new codex as well...but then they weren't really a very strong army to begin with.

    PS I've heard that GW has no intention of redoing Dark Eldar for WH 40K. I don't really remember the reasoning why but I believe it was something akin to "They army doesn't need a new codex, it functions fine without being redone"

    I have heard that 40k DE are still on the horizon and there have been plenty of greens of new models being done.. But rumours like that have been going around for a couple of years. They may still be competative in a very good general's hands, but they lack a good miniature range and the rich variety of options available to armies these days they need a redo if GW care about them..

    You would think given this is meant to be the year of WHFB and we have seen just one army book so far, it would be more than possible to fit two or perhaps even three into Q2 this year if they actually wanted to.. Everyone is so revved up about 8th ed and not really looking beyond it though.

    Well I for one am really hoping for a new 40k DE codex and range this year. I am waiting for that to jump into 40k as I really want to play DE.

    As for WHFB, Tomb Kings seems to be the consistent rumor from everyone for a new codex this year. Beyond that is anyones guess.

    Latest rumour again for 40k, is that Grey Knights will be before Dark Eldar...

    For Fantasy, I've heard any of Orcs and Goblins, Ogre Kingdoms, and Tomb Kings
