Hey guys. Later this month I am attending a tournament with the following comp. -No lord level characters. -2400 points, all pitched battles. -Only 2 of the same unit. I have tried a couple of different things in practice games and have really struggled against my friends lists (same comp). I have fielded Tetto'eko in my last games but he really hasn't made any impact, neither has a monster mash style. I would be really grateful of any advice a more experienced player may have for me. (I have all models available) After going back to the drawing board, the list I conjured up is as follows. Gor-Rok (general, in Templeguard unit) Scar-Vet on Cold One Ench shield, warrior bane, dawnstone Priest Lvl 1 lore of beasts, dispel scroll 20 saurus full command, hw/shields 20 saurus full command, hw/shields 10 skink cohorts jav/shields 10 skink cohorts jav/shields 6 kroxigor 3 terradons 20 Templeguard full command, razor banner Bastiladon solar engine Bastiladon solar engine 2 salamanders 2 salamanders 2396 points
Hello there! Welcome to L-O! Hope you find your stay enjoyable. Make sure you don't include the individual point costs for units when you put up a list. As for your army, I could see a few reasons why you're struggling. Firstly, for a 2400 point game your combat units are pretty small. If you could boost ALL the Saurus (including TG) up to at least 30 you will find yourself with a lot more success. Especially with the limited magic support you have. Secondly, you really need a BSB. I would recommend taking your existing Scar-Vet and giving him the Battle Standard and gearing him out with the Armor of Destiny. He'll really help your bottom line. Just be sure to keep him out of combat with big nasty units and you'll be fine. After those upgrades I'm sure you'll see you need to cut some things out. I'd start by hacking some of the Salamanders or the Kroxigor. Points gotta come from somewhere. It wouldn't hurt to invest more in magic as well. I can see a lowly level 1 Skink getting steamrolled in the magic phase, even without Lords to oppose him. But upping the Saurus numbers will really help.
Thanks for the reply. Sorry about the points values , I'm new to forums and don't really know the protocol. I've taken out two salamanders and added a BSB along with 10 more temple guard and boosted a unit of saurus up to 30. My wizard is now level 2 as well. Will be having a practice game later today with this list vs vampires so will post how it goes. Thanks again
I really recommend spending the points to up the cohorts to skirmishers. The extra mobility and ability to March and shoot is worth every penny.
