Hello, my scaly comrades! As said in the subject, i am relatively new to WHF, after a break of nearly 6 months, i will play my against a friend, who will bring skaven to the table. We will play 1000P. Since i guess, he will try to get help wherever he get's, i wanted to do the same. First i want to show you my list, secondly i wanted to illustrate my thoughts: General: Tetto Eko Core: 20 Warriors with Handweapon/Shield and full command 2* 10 skirmishers with javelins Special: 16 Temple Guard with full command Rare: 2*1 Salamander with extra handler I wanted to take Tetto Eko for several reasons: to me, he seems to be the best options for wizards we can have in smaller games. Loremaster can be pretty devastating and the option to reroll rolled power dices and granting extra movement can be pretty good...if my opponent takes war machines, i send the skirmishers to the front, if he has none, i take the salamanders. Temple Guard is there to cover Tetto (this should be allowed, or am i wrong?) and to bring some beats if he takes ogres. The warriors are the anvil of my battle line, the skirmishers are there to hunt war machines and to redirect his blocks of infantry. Is this list any good or should i write another one? Where could i improve this list? Greetings from Germany, Geth.
Hi Geth! Welcome back to the hobby. I play quite a lot of 1000-point games with local friends. I don't have much experience playing vs Skaven (they play vamps, empire, ogres, high elves), but I've found old Tetto to be fantastic in small games. Be aware though that your opponents will often be able to field a level 3 or even level 4 wizard in 1000 points so you'll be facing a slight uphill battle in terms of dice rolls. It's totally okay to cover Tet with the temple guard (probably a good idea in fact). I also find that Cold One Riders are great with Tet in small games, where their 2+ armor is often more difficult to crack. This works very well with harmonic convergence (2+ rerollable plz). Vanguard is often good on them too, helping them to get in flanking positions. My usual 1000 point list looks similar to yours, but instead of the temple guard, I take a slightly larger block of saurus and some CoR's. I often also take a small cohort unit to keep Tetto safe (or use as a throwaway charge blocker if there are no threats). Zek
Zek, concerning the higher leveled mages, you are damn right. He will probably take a grey seer, so i will have a level 4 wizard against me. How i will handle him? I don't know so far.... In the only game where i have taken CoR, they were a blast. But, well, you don't get to read good things about them very often. I still will try them in the next games, after all, i really like the models. I guess my biggest problem will be his Grey Seer and eventually the weapon teams he might bring. The regular infantry does not seem to be a problem to us.
Why not? he doesn't get the same benefits a slann does (he instead gets this benefit from being placed in a skink cohort unit, but I see no reason why he can't be placed in a TG unit.
kinda... you can stick him on the front corner of the unit since thier bases don't come out even. GGGGGG[t] GGGGGG GGGGGG G=temple guard [t] tito
