8th Ed. "Normal" points amount

What's more normal to play at, 2500 or 2400?

2500 for our local group. 2000 is probably the next most used.

"Normal" points seem to be different depending on what type of game and what area you are in. My general consensus is that most tournaments (at least around here) are at 2400 points. A lot of games from battle reports that I read on the different Warhammer army forums (non tourney and tourney) seem to be 2500 points.

My own gaming club just upped our points from 2000 to 2500 as it's a more rounded number and we are trying to become better General's so having this large of a point spread allows for more possible dynamic and challenging lists.

Our LGS plays 2000. The one across town plays 2250. I like the 2000 point range, getting up into 3000 or more really messes with the magic phase with the amount of defense everyone gets.

I enjoy games that are 3000-3500 points. It allows for more powerful armies with more customization and even allows for the use of those expensive characters that we have. They do take a little while longer though.

My friend is convinced that if we go to 2500 we will be able to field OP builds so he is convinced that 2400 is a more "balanced" point value. I thought 2500 was the tourney standard so I always intended to play that.

We always play 2500, it works well to give you a decent sized army yet not bee too overboard with characters. We used to play 3k all the time, that was fun as well.

We play with anything between 1k to 2.5k here. It all depends on the mood and and such of people.
For instance when I want to play, but feel lazy I try to keep it at 1k.

Everyone here is able to field decent 1k armies, so it's not that anyone is looking for advantages. Besides, when I play at 1k I'm mainly looking for an excuse to field nothing but Saurus warriors.

Here is San Diego CA it is usally 2400-2500. When I lived in London most games were 1500-1750, but that was a while ago, dont know what they play now.

As most LM stuff is high points cost, 2000 or below is quite restrictive. Choices expand from 2250 onwards, so getting a higher points cost agreed will help with the variety you can field.

We tend to play 1500, 2000, and 2250.

"Normal" often is defined by your time or models available.

I find that Lizardmen have some strong builds at 1500 and 2250, but it sounds like I should brush up on 2500.

In the southeast US most of the tournaments are running at 2500 pts. I rather like that total because if gives you enough points to try different things, but not so much as to have 2-3 uber-lords running around.
