I need help kitting out an Old Blood who can hopefully go Toe to Toe with other lord choices, and don't bank on a lore of life slann keeping his wounds constantly growing back. So, anyways, any suggestions or advice on how to do this?
I plan to experiment in my next few battles with an Oldblood with Glittering Scales and Fencer's Blades. He'd be very hard to hit and he's still have an armor save of 3+ (which I guess won't protect him against most enemy lords). A Cold One will boost his Armor Save to 1+ and still let him require 6s to be hit for most regular troops and 5s to be hit for most enemy fighty lords. Iceshard Blizzard from a friendly Skink priest will make even the most badass enemy lords require 6 to hit him. I haven't tried it yet so I have no first hand knowledge of how well this works. I plan to use my Glittering Fencing Oldblood mainly for crowd control and not duels. A potion of strength would be good if expect to go first, you can theoretically end an enemy lord in one round, but I'd use the remaining 40 points of magical items to buy a Talisman of some kind and maybe a Potion of Foolhardiness if there is anything left over after that. I guess I don't trust my ability to make saving throws when I really need them so that's why I'm trying a build to avoid being hit in the first place.
hmm, I like it. In this list, I'm going to have two Old Bloods, in case of the "extra army for the season" thing that can occur in the badlands campaign, and I'm going to do an entirely saurus army. I'm kind of playing with the idea of taking the wizard hat for lulz How do you feel about Piranha blade, Maiming Shield, Dawnstone, Potion of speed?
Check out this link: OLD BLOOD BUILDS I'll add my two cents also: OB Extra HW Carnosaur Pendant Sword of Anti-Heroes ...whatever armor or talismans you want... ...whatever mount you want... Gives you 6 attacks (7 after you kill a RnF trooper) at strength 5 OR 7 attacks (8 if you've killed a RnF trooper) at strength 6 against another character (potentially more if there are two characters in the unit). He's already at an armor save of 4+, so making him a 2+ with a ward isn't too hard.
