Ok, So recently I have been pondering the usefulness of the EoTG's, sure, it amps up the priest, but it makes him a huge target, and it's wardsave only saves 1/3 of the wounds caused, and only if they are a certain distance away, so I opted to drop it for a much needed unit of saurus warriors (and get another priest with the points after that-after dropping some other things) so without further ado, my list without an EoTG-comments are appreciated 1.5k Scar-Vet with cold one, shield of mirror, light armour, BB chotec sk priest- lvl 2, diadem, scroll sk priest- lvl 2, scroll, cloak of feathers 18 saurus w spears and shields, w standard and musician 18 saurus w spears and shields, w standard and musician 12 skirmishers 12 skirmishers 5 cold ones with banner and huanchi's blessed totem 10 TG with banner and musician 2k list Slaan, cupped hands, focus rumination, focus of mystery BSB Scar-Vet with cold one, shield of mirror, light armour, BB chotec sk priest- lvl 2, diadem, scroll sk priest- lvl 2, scroll, cloak of feathers 18 saurus w spears and shields, w standard and musician 18 saurus w spears and shields, w standard and musician 12 skirmishers 12 skirmishers 5 cold ones with banner and huanchi's blessed totem 12 TG with banner and musician 3 terradons 1992 pts (suggestions for either list are appreciated!)
I'm no expert so take evrything I say with a grain of salt. The first list why 10 TG with comand even. If not escorting a slann I find em to expensive to field and would rather use standard saurus warriors. Instead of them I would prolly get teradons and some skinks. 10 TG with standard and musican = 181 points. 3 terries, 5 camo skinks and a 10 cohort = 200. Drop one magic iteam and the TG for skink power ^^ For the 2k list. I think 2 skink priests may be overkill. I would drop one, beef up the TG unit and get more skinks. A slann is 6 magic levels by him self. As I said I have only 2 games with LM ever and 4 games in 7'th edition. So I admit to not be that knoledgebele. Also you use the shield of mirror in both lists, as I see the iteam it is a one trick use ocasionly. It needs the suprise to be efective. It still protects the unit thou... have to think that one over.
The reason that has driven me to get so much magic protection, is warp lightning Last game was horrible, it can destroy our units with ease, a 100 pt warlock can trash an entire lizardmen army.... I also play TK, and they have good magic The TG seem very good IMO, they fought off 30 plaguemonks, losing only 2 of their own, and the armies I play seem to have a much harder time getting through them...although you may be right, 12 does seem a little small for a 2k list...... and chameleon skinks ARE my favourite unit....so Im off to ponder how to add them in thanks!
Make sure you know how warp lightning works. There are pretty good odds, 1/6 that the engineer will hit himself. Any rolls of a "1" are resolved against the engineer.
Yes....but when you have 4+ and 3+ wardsaves-(stupid magic items) those don't get by as easily ....and in 6 games he's miscast once...but I DO have to start making him roll to see if storm daemon runs out or not
Temple Guard should only be fielded in armies with a Slann in them, saurus with spears do more damage and are cheaper. Units of skink skirmishers should be ten strong. EoTg is too good to pass up imho, but i respect your choice. I just wouldn't do it myself. In the 1.5k list you only need one priest.
